Man this girl can sing. It's too bad that her management team is pandering to the teeny-boppers, because she could definitely put out an album that rivals Whitney's or Mariah's self-titled first albums, and I'd buy it too. She is pretty good. There is a lot of money to be made with teens though, so it's not like shes really making a bad career move. There's time for other stuff later.

The album has catchy songs, but like you said, she needs some independence to put out mature songs that match her talent.
Interesting thing about this girl - and she has been the subject of threads before - is that she played a relatively minor, one-note character on that TV show she was on, 'Victorious'. The character she played was essentially comic-relief, an innocent butterfly of a character, childlike and sweet. (My son was 11, he watched the show constantly, so yes, I saw plenty of episodes) Anyway, within the parameters of the show and the character, she performed extremely well as both an actress as well as the singing and dancing. The bottom line is, she's talented. As has been said by many a great actor: 'Dying is easy. Comedy is hard.' She will probably have a good career ahead of her on Broadway, if she chooses to go that route, because mainstream media tends to pigeon-hole talented people into one role, and multi-talented people who 'make it big' in more than one area are very few and far between. We're talking Bette Midler, or more recently Justin Timberlake.. Mark Wahlberg to an extent.. She can clearly sing and dance, and she is a talented actress, at least in the comedic roles. It would be a shame for her to end up having to set aside one area in favor of the others. I hope her handlers can manage her career well enough that she doesn't have to do that. And then maybe in a few years people will have a capable multi-talented person to put in their movies and such, so they can stop ruining movies by trying to put Beyonce in them.. lol Personally, I think she is going to be a big star, much bigger than Victoria Justice (who is also frankly worthy of stardom at some point as well) Ugh, dang I spent way too much time watching kids shows..
I agree. Tori kelly has got it. She's playing Nov 10 in the House of Blues Houston by the way. Grande has a good voice if you like pop music.
