A gay friend of mine had this to say today. "Let me just say this. I don't give a damn about religion at all, but I'm beginning to like this man."
I agree, he's trying to tell you repugnicans: do not put your faith into ted cruz, but put it in Jesus!
He is a true Jesuit in the best and most open sense of that order. His communication skills are also the best since JPII, IMHO. I'm very excited about the effect he could have on dialogue and even behavior. (resident trolls excepted, naturally).
neither you Rimmy nor the Fifty Thousand, nor MSNBC, nor Harry Reid; nor Nancy, nor the Root, nor Chris Matthews, nor Jon Stewart...nor doomed Daily Kos itself... Understand what power is. Understand what Glory is, understand at all. Spoiler <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/j_nBCWsUEig" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
No, I don't. This might be news to you, but Westboro is not the pinnacle of churches. It might be a common thread that churches find homosexuality as a sin, but they also find many others things as sins, such as smoking and drinking and gambling. What do your smoking and drinking and gambling friends have to say about the new pope?
Breath of fresh air for the Catholic Church. I'm a practicing Protestant, but I always keep up with the Catholic Church, and I'm glad this Pope is changing tides. Keep it up you crazy Argentine!
You can totally see why the Jesuits have been excommunicated before. LOL. I love that they actually focus on the message of Jesus, and it is that simple. The voices (and there are loud voices)* who don't approve of him are also typically fond of the old testament. Fascinating to watch. * = go watch the video in the OP on youtube and read some of the comments, if you want the flavor. Let's just say the word "anti-Christ" comes up pretty quickly.
My smoking and drinking and gambling friends think he's alright. Nothing great, but could definitely be worse.
