None of those are options for the 5 spot on a championship caliber team.

Lin still has to make better decision when he drives to the rim from the baseline. He needs to be able to prod the defense and dribble back out to reset if there's no opening, instead of forcing shot or making errant passe from bad angle.

It's not the typical stat line for Lin we have seen this preseason, although admittedly an extremely small sample size. Based on everything we have seen and heard from the coaches, Lin is much improved this year. This will not be his typical stat line this year. I think the changing line ups (although good in the long term) has got to be hard on all the players in the short term. Don't be so hard on him! : )

I didn't watch the game, but reading the posts about the game ... for the first time I am wondering if Lin can thrive in Houston. I still very much hope it works out. But if it doesn't, I can see a situation where that might also be for the best for both the Rockets and Lin.

I'm not being hard on Lin. I even defended his shooting slump tonight. What I meant is Lin was inconsistent last year and tonight we saw that inconsistent Lin again, hence the notion of "typical". Of course, I believe Lin will improve and hopefully become much more consistent. I like the Lin I've been seeing in these preseason games better then even the best Lin I saw last year because he looks so improved. That is a very good thing.

Funny how bias can cloud judgement. Lin played very well aside from a couple of silly turnovers. Yes he shot for 2-9, but he missed at least 3 layups. Those will be made way more often than not. Should've at least been 5-9 and he would've been on most nights. Bev, while I think he is an incredible talent did NOT have a good night. Overall the team is really really good but I think it's obvious Lin needs to be the starter to have this team reach its full potential. Given the chance, he'll put up big numbers. Offense will get stagnant if Bev starts and teams double harden- who will playmake?

I love how Parsons gets a free pass when he plays bad- like tonight- but Lin gets blasted if he goes 2-9 while missing a ton of layups that he'll normally make. This team could be great, but if everyone keeps bashing Lin I'll just keep saying the same **** to back him up. He should start and Lin is a sparkplug off the bench. Either way though..... Really excited about the team overall. They have a roster that is unmatched in the NBA in some ways.

No matter how everyone is utilized, they are very good. Anything less than conference finals will be a disappointment.

*my bad, meant Bev should be sparkplug off the bench. Queue Freudian slip, but no, that's what I actually think.

Dwight looked great. Best he's played hands down so far. Asik looked sort of out of sync but it was his first game back. Still not sure him and howard will go together that great tho

I'm puzzled, can you elaborate on what you mean by Beverley NOT having a good night? Cause he sure did look like good old reliable and consistent Beverley to me.

He played pretty good D as usual, but his shot wasn't falling and he overall struggled to get much of anything going on the offensive side. I just think overall his game is better suited for coming off the bench. I love what he brings but he fits better w/ the second unit

He'll be okay with either starting or off the bench. He did give us a much needed offensive spark immediately off the bench tonight. Put back 2 and another 3 that got us some quick points. He also moved the ball well and once Garcia got hot, knew to look for him often. Offensively, he was better in the first half while Lin was better in the second half (coincidentally, also when Harden was on the bench).

So he missed at least three lay ups and you equate this to Lin playing very well?

people are too quick to pull the trigger. There are ups and downs that are just natural and not the result of inconsistency. A baseball player going 2-4,1-5,3-6, 0-4, 2-3,1-5 is not really all that inconsistent, just how the game works.

A couple good plays followed by 2-3 bad plays and all of a sudden everyone has to pull out the inconsistency card. We certainly need a larger sample size than a couple pre-season games before slapping that label on.
