ClutchFans Game Thread: Mavericks @ Rockets 10/21/2013 (PRESEASON)

Yeah, having Asik is definitely a huge advantage.

It wasn't bad, but it was by far his worst preseason game so far.

He had a rough shooting night, looked to be out of sync.

 

You know the rockets are a team effort right?

 

WTF? You seriously believe that? When Lin was making "peanuts" playing for the NYK, there were Melo/Smith fans that b****ed and complained all the time about Lin sucking. They believed Baron Davis was so much better than Lin. Then Lin got injured and they realized what they missed, but they never admitted it, of course. Then in the offseason, they wanted Jason Kidd to start or even Pablo Prigioni over Lin.

It'll happen everywhere Lin goes. Heck. Lin could have Scott Machado on the same team, and people will be b****ing about how Lin's not as good as that other PG. Oh, wait. That one actually happened. Seriously. The debating will happen even if Lin is giving money to the team to play. It's not about the money. The doubters are fixed in their position and the debating will only solidify their position even more...deep down to the core of their souls where there's no turning back...ever.

 

The two times in the game when we got a little separation were when Beverley and Lin were playing together when Harden sat. That's a nice little rotation McHale has going, with both point guards in with what has to be considered the second unit with Harden and Howard sitting.

 

Stat of the night: 54-42

That's the rebounding number and I expect to see that kind of advantage night in and night out. That and that little letter we all like.

Lin with his bad night still got twice as many rebounds as PB. He had a bad shooting night but lots of overreaction in the GARM.

 

I was about to mention that. Other than bad shooting, Lin had a good game

 

LOL, look at Dirk try to decapitate Casspi on that flagrant foul. In Germany, that would be considered a hate crime.

 

Not sure where you going with this.

Patrick had 9 boards the previous game and is known as one of the best, not the best offensive rebounding PG.

 

I think it is kinda of premature to judge on the twin towers experiments, this being the first game for Asik in a while. However, it they truly cannot coexist in the starting lineup, I am for swinging a trade to bring back PPat back to Houston. IMO, PPat next to either D12 would be a nearly perfect match. PPat is your stretch 4 that knows how to play team D. He won't need to get 10 rebounds as either D12 or Asik will vaccuumm every ball in the paint area.

 

The refs in the preseason is like the principals of a high school.

Beginning of the season they're so strict on the rules how to play basketball. As the season progress they call games looser and more lenient. Every preseason they always talk about about cleaning up the NBA and what not. By playoffs time roll around, they're not going to call traveling, palming, carry, and moving picks. Fans going to blames the refs when their team lose just like every season.

Stay consistent on how you ref the damn games!

 

Refs were definitely annoying and inconsistent. They've been hitting us with those lame delay of game calls alllll preseason, but let Shawn Marion get away with an obvious one tonight. Even he looked shocked it didn't get called.

 

My point is that Bev is clearly a stellar rebounder but got out rebounded 2 to 1 by Lin on a night where Lin didn't play well but no one is raising an alarm about Bev's collapse as a rebounder. 'Cause that would be an over reaction, as many of these other comments are.

Someone needs to make a gif of the corrupt police chief in Casablanca saying "Knee jerk reaction in the GARM? I'm shocked!"

 

I was super busy and was only watching in chunks (chunks where the Rockets looked horrible tbh ) but it looks like that wasnt the case. I guess I just caught the bad stuff and my stream was hot garbage.
Hook me up with some answers pls.

1. Overall how did the Asik&Howard combo look together?
2. Why did James get 7 TOs? lord, please dont tell me they were all trying to get the ball in the post lol
3. The first minutes I saw Calderon taking a crap on Lin (as always ). Was it a case of really bad defense from Jeremy? or just bad PnR defense in general?

 

Interesting game with the twin towers tonight. I think from what games I have seen so far that I like DMo in the starting line up the best. The offense seemed to flow the best with Lin, Harden, Parsons, DMo, and Howard.

I like Lin coming out a little early (unless he is on a roll), then he is ready to come back in when Harden needs a rest. The same thing that most Rocket fans wanted last year.

Overall I think you have to be happy about Lin and Beverley both have improved since last year. Casspi looks like the stretch four that we need and this should be a great season.

 

same folks that prophesied doom before the one game 'experiment' just reminding us of their predictions. tbh, not much there tonight to threaten their fortune telling ability.

 

Then what happens to the defense on the second team? You're only considering the starting five.

Of course The Dwightmare and Asik can coexist: they won't destroy each other. With this roster we can always have either Dwight or Asik on the floor, or both!
