McHale says, "I have two starting point guards". Morey hears, " I have one expendable starting point guard"

That's probably what Morey does hear. lol

There are teams out there that could really use an upgrade at the PG position.

That seals it, Lin is not in the Rockets long term plans and they aren't in his either.

I hope Lin gets traded to the lakers, so he can be with mike dantoni again, Lin called dantoni and offensive wizard ..and so all of other players who played for him.

I think this is the key phrase:

Free agents signed this off-season with cap space are eligible to be traded on Dec.15th. And free agents signed with bird rights are eligible to be traded on Jan.15th.

So the PG experiments end after December, according to McHale's statement, and one of them will be the starting PG going forward in January. The other can be packaged with Asik in a trade if needed.

If Jeremy can't hold onto his starting position, Morey might decide to trade him instead of losing him for nothing. Since he knows Jeremy probably won't resign after his contract is up if he's a 6th man, especially if he does well in that role and can get a starting offer elsewhere.

We all know what happened the last time the Rockets had 2 starting level PGs and GARM was filled with debates over which of them should start.

So any bets on what color uniform Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin will be wearing in 2 years?

    Only results matter.

The actual downside is the team doesn't win as much as fans expect/hope. But then again one can always argue how Lin/Asik the 16 million backup don't make up enough margin for the team win. Of course, it will be argued in the Name of Team and Team Only.

Kyle Lowry has had trouble almost everywhere he's been (Mem, Hou, Tor), so I wouldn't put it on McHale. KL thinks he's a "foundational" piece that teams can build around. 'll take Lin and Bev as role players (who understands their place) over that foundational piece anytime.

Maybe you can bring up how much Dragic and McHale got along? Also, the revolting door of PGs have been in place long before McHale's tenure.

DDMO works best with 2 dribble drive penetrating players on the court at all times. I think the Rockets are close to that. A very good thing.

Beverley is the one most likely traded, the teams Morey is looking at moving Asik for want a backup pg more than a starting pg, and by backup pg, i mean paying them like a backup pg.

That was obvious from both sides in the off-season.

The Rockets indicated Jeremy wasn't in their long term plans when they didn't include him on the recruiting delegation that met with Howard.

Jeremy understood and reciprocated when he said he was working on skills that would help him no matter what city he ends up playing for when the season starts.

So it sounds like neither party sees the other in their long term plans.

And the PG merry-go-round continues where it left off with Lowry and Dragic. Looks like Caanan's turn to be starting PG next when Bev/Lin are traded/leave in free agency.

Morey is shifting into a more deliberate role. I expect much fewer trades in the next few years. He is shifting from roster building to small adjustments. Morey has the team he wants.

Go watch the Lakers play if you want to watch D'Antoni offense.

I hope they'll announce well in advance who's going to start which games, cause I'm not going to pay $500 to watch Beverley start. And the Taiwanese TV stations can decide which games they want to broadcast.

Nash ain't what he used to be; he's done pretty much nothing all pre-season. Lin, Pau and Kobe could do some serious damage. Given Lin's record of trouncing his former teams, he'd have the Rockets in his sights too.
