The 1-1-2-5-5 doesn't offer enough spacing. I want to see the 1-1-1-5-5.

Ton of people seem to argue that Harden was playing point guard last year, so by that standard...

    The PG debate is RIDICULOUS.

It started out as "Lin is the starter but what about the idea of Beverley starting?"

Then it went to "Let's start Beverley in a few pre-season games but hey, we're trying out a bunch of different starting lineup in the preseason -- no biggie."

Then it went to "I have two starting point guards. We could have many different starting lineups."

This is disrespectful to Lin. It's funny that when McHale says we could have many different starting lineups, we all know that he's not talking about bringing Parson, Howard, or Harden off the bench so really, this is just spineless lip service. If you're going to bring Lin off the bench as a sixth man, that's fine but just do it and don't couch it in this "many different starting lineups" bull****.

Lin plays all 82 games last year as the starter and does well, and now he is a co-starter. Nice vote of confidence to Lin, McHale.

I think we should just trade the whole team for Lebron.

Not a big fan of alternating starters during the regular season as consistency is key. Either start Lin or start Bev. I'm sure they care more about who finishes anyways.

What if Aaron Brooks all of a sudden starts playing like he did in his MIP year? McHale: "I have three starting point guards".

Then we could petition Morey to trade either Pat or Jeremy so the GARM would become tolerable?

I just realized that Mchale is the most creative coach who has not won a ring ever in NBA.

Not out of the question :). Depends on what they want to do. The two 1s we have are so different that it could be possible, as long as they have another good backup 1 :).

Beside, traditional roles is old fashion. This guy talk about 13 BB positions, but I recall there are others that mention even more.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the last time Rockets have two starting PGs, they both bailed from the team.

What a slap in the face to Aaron Brooks.

McHale continues to show a tin ear.

yeah i kinda agree with this approach. you need to have a core identity of who you are, and when opponents are able to stop you effectively, then you put in another piece that changes things up but you go into every game with that same core identity.

last year we were a fast tempo, fast break team and that won us 45 games. when elite teams are able to stop that, we now have the option of a half-court game that can beat them as well. but our identity should always be the same.

i'd prefer the do-one-thing-and-do-it-very-well approach to a do everything but doesn't excel in anything approach. do we have the personnel and coaching to be able to do many things extremely well? i don't know.

We just had an entire season where Lin started every game.

Even after wins it was like group therapy in here for LOFs after whatever mean old man Mchale had done that night.

Maybe, just maybe, the different starting lineups might be more so because of our PF position, where the Rockets have had 4 different pf starting in 4 games. The PG situation is really between which one of those will be the 6th man, and as Manu/Mchale has shown, is not an insult to be a featured 6th man. Often, the 6th man is an extension of the starting lineup, as seen by Harden two years ago as well. Lin will be fine.

On a side note, do you think Lin is better when he can dominate the ball? If so, then he will be better suited as a 6th man where he can basically have 100% offensive freedom and control.

I will totally be on board for this approach once Canaan has scored a point as a Rocket.
