Like the title says, are either of them working in the Houston media market? I really miss them both as their absence has resulted in a serious lack of quality Rockets talk.
Wexler has a blog where he posts podcasts on the reg. http://adwexler.wordpress.com/ His posts are all great reads.
They got canned just so 790 could save money on salary and put in that terrible Jay Mohr show at 11:00am Then they moved Lance Zerlein and Adam Clanton to the morning. The new morning show (Proper Gentlemen of Sports) had potential, but it's turned into a show about irrelevance and little sports talk.
Honestly Matt & Adam were not that great. (I dislike Wexler mostly) Having said that, Jay Mohr is f'ing 10x worse. I gave him a week and now I won't ever listen to him anymore.
The Big Show I thought worked well, but Matt and Adam seemed to be irked by the fact that they had to just take on such a dominant personality as Lance without any say-so. In the months after Lance left, the show clearly suffered. I heard on many occasions an entire hour hijacked by some irrelevant Behind the Lines national sports story, when there was plenty of good local sports talk to be had elsewhere. I hope they are receptive to feedback and keep in mind to reduce such non-sequiturs in any future shows they do. Sure it's good for riling up uneducated inarticulate callers, but there is no substance whatsoever to it. Stick to what happens on the court when the clock's running. When I hear something Bob Ley could be preaching to me about, like gays in athletics or pedophilia at Penn State or a Philly football player being a racist, that's when I change the channel.
After all the changes made on 790, I stopped listening to Houston sports radio. The place to listen to is Fantasy Sports channel on XM. That will keep you listening....
They talk sports but too bad Adam Clanton sounds like someone that knows very little about sports. It's pathetic to pair someone like that with Lance. Lance knows his stuff be he can get annoying too.
Clanton probably knows more Rockets basketball than anyone on the station at this point (not a big Clanton fan either), but God forbid he talk about it on air.
Talked to Adam the other day. Said he can't say anything, but something should happen soon. I'm hoping so simply to actually hear about Rockets talk since "The Home of the Rockets" don't seem to be interested in it.
Some caller bought up the rockets today and they pretty much just completely ignored it and went to the next texans call.
I get that football drives the ratings and that drives the conversation. That being said, I sometimes wonder if it isn't partially that way because football is all they talk about. In other words, the only people who are going to listen to a station that talks about football 90% of the time is people who are going to change the channel when you stop talking about football. I like football, but by Wednesday virtually every interesting topic has been covered a few dozen times or more. So brushing aside Rockets talk so we can discuss the problems with Schaub for the 30th time that day is disappointing.
