There are a lot. But there are a lot that aren't. And many of those people have kids who grow up liking teams their parents like. I'm just saying that even though Houston is a large city, it is a large city with a lot of people living here who are from other places and are fans of other teams.
rockets should pay for true fans/supporters like they pay power dancers...make kinda shelter, gather a 1000 bums, give them cloth, place to live and a regular food and train them in cheering...it would pay itself in couple of years...

How do you explain selling out every game in their history then if it's only a football city when winning? It's a football city first, regardless of wins/losses.
I think Seattle deserves a team as much as the next guy, but let's not pretend that there weren't loads of empty seats when the Sonics were mediocre.
It's annoying but whatever. I'm going to the Raptors game, I'll be one of the 5 people sitting in the lower bowl.
Nobody has mentioned how much of a pain in the rear it is to get to a Rockets game...especially since they moved the start time to 7pm. I no longer live in Houston, but when I did I used to work in Sugarland, live in Champions and got off work about 6pm. There was no physical way I could make a game...even if I went straight from work to the game because of traffic. If I wanted to go home, forget it....too far...too long...and I haven't even factored in the time it takes to pick up or meet a friend/family member to go to the game. Practically everyone who lives in Sugarland, Katy, Champions, Woodlands, Kingwood, League City, etc knows what I'm talking about. The days I DID go to the game, it was during the time that games started at 7:30pm, and I was off.
Although Houston is more spread out than most cities, I am sure this applies to most basketball cities. Games start at 7 local time for everyone.
You realize its pre-season. This pre-season some of the 'fans' have overblown things more than normal. Maybe they've never see a nba season before.
Ha yea I'm looking at the raptors game thinking there's now way I can make it on time. I can usually only do weekend games.
1.) Games start at 7 and the arena is at the heart of downtown. Traffic is awful and it is hard to get there. 2.) I have to pay for parking and it is not cheap, unless I want to walk far. 3.) Arena seats are not that comfortable and it is crowded, so I have little room to manuever and/or be comfortable. 4.) Tickets are not cheap so my seats usually are not very good. 5.) Often times I am surrounded by fans from other teams which is irritating. 6.) Food/beer is not very good and not very cheap. Considering the alternative is sit in my boxer shorts on a huge sofa and get a great view on an HD TV, with a plate full of delicious nachos at little to no cost, what incentive is there for me to go the game?
Yeah, that is a big turn off about sporting events. The traffic. I went to an Astros game recently, and because they suck, not many people were there. I was able to park in the lot right across the street from the left field entrance and my seat was right in front of the entrance in the Crawford boxes. When I left, I walked right out to my car and simply drove away like I was leaving a grocery store. No traffic or hassle. It was luxurious. If sporting events were that easy to get in and out of, I would go much more often.
i dont live in houston I can't go to games cause I don't live in the city or state of texas . If u read everything I wrote u would have seen that
I read a lot of lame excuses so far on this thread. It just comes down to the fact that local Houston fans don't really care for the NBA. There are diehards, especially on CF, but that arena is more or less lifeless compared to half a dozen other stadiums. Hell the canadians cheer louder then fans at the TC.
