Zach: But we can't forget the stuff around the basketball. Their announcing crew brings a dangerous mix of misinformation and homerism that mars the Houston broadcast, and as good as Harden and Howard are, their games are going to feature endless parades to the foul line. That makes for a boring watch.

 

Bill goes out of his way to rag on last year's draft (doubting the ROY, for example), and then Clairvoyant Bill says he always wants a top7 pick. Huh?

 

I do understand the dislike for the homerism. I find myself becoming upset with most away team's broadcasters for the same reason.

I would be interested to hear more, from their point of view, on what they consider misinformation.

 

lol, probably stuff like when they seriously said that the Kings' Isiah Thomas was the Bad Boy Pistons' Isiah Thomas's son, or just this last preseason game where they really thought Oladipo was the only decent young player on Orlando's roster, as if Harris, Harkless, Vucevic, and Nicholson didn't even exist.

I love Bill, Bull, and Clyde, but from a neutral perspective, they're probably pretty annoying. Still the best sense of lightheartedness and humor of any of the NBA broadcasts and WAY better overall than the Spurs, Jazz, Cavs, Celtics, and Lakers announcing teams.

 

Zach seems to have the same taste I do, given whose crews he rated highly (knicks etc)

Bill Worrell is the old guy who should have retired 10 years ago that cried wolf, he complains so much about bad calls, that when they're really there, you shrug off his nonsense, and for a guy that's been calling nba games as long as he has, his knowledge is dangerously lacking. He might well be the 2nd worst play by play guy in the nba (sorry, the lakers hold the worst)

Clyde on the other hand is at least ok in that department, but when those two argue, it's always Bill's nonsense. Clyde's problem is he has a super dry sense of humour and doesn't seem to take the job seriously at all. Matt on the other hand is just dry and boring. They're not good color guys, like Frazier and Wesley, but they aren't tragic like Elliott either.

And to add to that, there's no real chemistry, either natural (like the whole knicks teams) or accidental (like new orleans, it's amusing in a comical way to see Wesley basically tell Meyers to sit in a corner with his nonsense, and Meyers slinks away, whereas Bill gets all in a huff and tries to defend it)

Only one person can be shooting at a time. Could there possibly be a synergistic effect that causes Jennings and Smith's shot selection to improve because bad shots are prevented by the other one already taking a bad shot?:grin:

 

The Rockets are gonna be 8th I believe.

 

I think that's what Dumars is counting on
