As soon as I heard this news I thought, Dallas fans are gonna freak out.

I expect him to be involved with the Astros as a consultant..no matter what title they give him.

Nolan's a good guy whose probably getting more credit with the Rangers than he deserved. I kinda feel like he was on loan to the Dallas area anyway...

The Rangers have given Daniels way too much authority. He probably needs a good ol country arse whoopin and Nolans just the man to give it to him. Cmon back to Houston Nolan where you will be appreciated and help ya boy build a winner.

Absolutely true. His one "hallmark" in the media about not believing in pitch counts and inning limits and wanting starters to go deeper into games is not even something the Rangers have actually done, despite saying they do to the press.

You think Luhnow wants somebody second guessing his decisions? I don't think any GM does... which is why I don't fault Daniels.

So you think Daniels was responsible for the winning years in Texas? Not hardly, he is responsible for whats taking place now which is a fiasco. You'll see, the Astros will be in the playoffs before the Rangers and I hope Nolan is there rubbin it in Daniels face.

Until somebody explains exactly why Nolan should get all the credit for the Rangers success, I'll go with the guy who had the biggest role in selecting/developing/trading for the key players that contributed to their pennants.

Everyone says Nolan "changed the mindset"... but what does that really mean? That doesn't translate into sustained success over multiple 162 game seasons. That doesn't breed talent and magically create winning ballclubs in the minors that eventually translates into major league success.

Ironically enough that was the right decision and probably five years too late. Ten if you consider how good Reeves would have been if he hadn't left for Denver.

Oh and Nolan Ryan is statewide hero who has now been kicked out of the 2 MLB organizations in the State of Texas. What does that tell you?

Im not giving Nolan all the credit, it was a collective effort and the perfect storm where young talent and veteran leadership came together at the right time. Now Daniels has this Jerry Jones mentality and wants to show that he can do it by himself. The only difference is the Rangers dont have wait 20 yrs before firing Daniels. Maybe.Seeing how all of my Texas teams front office seem to be ran by idiots. The Longhorns should be top 5 and competing for national championship every year, hello this is Texas the biggest football state with this most talent in the country. The Mavericks(Cuban) won a championship and then proceeded to blow the team up because apparently hes happy now to suck.Even in the Rockets championship years when the geniuses upstairs thought it was a good idea to trade the freakin team to phoenix for Barkley. I swear what i would give for somebody to step up and be a respectable franchise in Texas thats about winning and nothing else.

He is an supremely grade-a egomaniacal ahole who has burned bridges wherever he's been. That's what I'm saying. And yes, he was run out of Houston because mgmt got tired of dealing with him, and the same just happened in Dallas. If he is not the HMFIC, he is a miserable person to be around, and that's from personal experience in business outside of baseball.

I hope this means Round Rock comes back to the Astros. I always loved having a piece of the Astros in my backyard.
