So you didn't watch the last game against the Lakers where Parsons scored 24 and hit a huge shot in the 4th quarter? He scored more than 20 points against LAL 3/4 times last year. He scored more than 20 3/4 games against SAS as well. He scored 23/32/18/18 against DAL. Did he not show up in the playoffs as well? Your opinion is not valid.
I voted Parsons, but I don't put Asik far behind. My vote would have been different at the end of last season.
No it doesn't. But you are ignoring the rest of my post. Asik had a few bad games but 75% of his games last year were good to exceptional, whereas Lin it was 50% of his games good to exceptional and 50% bad to no comment. Asik showed a consistency that Lin has yet to show imo so therefore he is the better player imo.
After last year Morey said Lin had the third most win share behind Harden and Asik. Considering Lin is no longer recovering from a knee injury, it seems an easy ranking Asik Lin Parsons Beverley could be anywhere from above Lin to below Parsons, but Asik seems comfortably in the lead for 3rd best and most important.
Nope, but let me ask you this question, do you see Asik or Parson's man handling the Heat? Before you answer that, I'd like to say that this is in no way an insult to Parsons or Asik and that I'm not trying to get into a Lin sucks vs Lin is good battle with you. But do you see Asik taking control of a game with no offense? Perhaps he can defensively, but we all know that it is, as it always has been, about the buckets. Actually, forget that question, do you see any PG in the league man handling Miami? Especially NOW.. We saw what happens when a PG tries to take over against Miami; Lebron will come after them and they will fall, no matter who...
You are using the worst possible teams as examples... In Parsons' 2nd game against the Heat he scored 25 points.
Lin is the 3rd best. Parson is the 3rd most important. Asik is our number #3 if howard/asik works. Bev is our 6th.
Nice classy response. Would you be happy if I said Lin sucked and doesn't belong anywhere in the league? Since I was called out for omitting games where Lin was crushed, how bout the games where Parsons or Asik was man-handled? Again, I'm not trying to get into a dick measuring flame war with you people, it was just my opinion based off of who I believe was the overall better or more skillful player, who had the most and most versatile b-ball skills, including catch and shoot, ball handling, post moves, defense, mid-range, driving into the paint, passing, play making, court vision, offensive and defensive IQ, and overall versatility. However, I should say it's difficult to compare them since they play different positions.
This reminds me of a game in the past where Yao only obtained 2 or 3 rebounds and got "man-handled" by Kwame Brown (or some other 3rd rate center back then). Several posters got.... over-excited... and started calling Yao a major scrub, and how the Rockets should trade Yao for said center that "man-handled" him. The next day, Nazr Mohammed (then playing for the Kings) "man-handled" Tim Duncan (held Duncan to 10 points 5 rebounds or something like that) and I was making the joke that we should trade Yao for Nazr Mohammed. These folks forgot all the big games Yao gave for the Rockets, but immediately jumped up in sheer ecstasy when he had a bad game. Not to mention requesting for him to be traded for a 3rd rate center too  Several of the posters on this forum have a very limited and narrow mindset. They focus on all the bad points / games of one player, but ignore the bad games of other players. (Of course, you have the other side of the coin - the posters who focus on all the good points / games of individual players, but ignore the good games contributed by the others...).
Those are interesting percentages. Do they factor in Lin playing injured for the majority of the season or based on when he finally got healthy at the end of the season. In any case, my point is not to bash one Rocket over another but to identify the Rockets players capable of taking over games. Dwight, Harden and Lin have consistently shown the ability to do so. Parsons has done it on occasion.
Asik. We always look like crap when he's not on the court. (Please don't leave the Rockets.) Parsons does all the little things to make the team better, on and off the court. Lin. Our only reliable playmaker, outside James (and now Dwight) who can also dominate the game, although inconsistently. He and Asik held the fort like we (or maybe, I) expected when Harden+Chandler were out last season. Patrick Beverley. Most consistent player from start to finish, plays with 100% energy and hustle ALL 48 minutes. (If I could get the team to do one thing differently this year, it would be to adopt Bev's consistent play/energy, remember the dreaded slow 1st quarter starts? Argh.)
That is a valid point he was recovering from surgery last year. But I can only go from the sample I had last year righr. I can't hypothesize that if he was 100% healthy would he have played better. And Lin's sample is also still pretty small (about 100 stars in the NBA). I agree with you that Lin has show the ability to take over games but I guess where we disagree is that I don't think he has shown that consistently enough. There were several games last year where he disappeared. Did issues like injury, first time playing with Harden, being the focus of other teams defense & just transitioning to being a full time starter have an impact. Most definitely. But like I said I need to see more from him on a consistent basis. Now that he is healthy, has a full season as a starter under his belt, had a training camp with Harden & DH12 I expect big things.
haha thanks for making it more complicated when sounds like you are right possibly. My larger point is that (and clutchfans seems to agree) our #3 is as good as our #5. and Im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing? I am leaning towards it being a good thing since that means we have a strong role team. You can win with 2 studs and a strong role team.. well I think . But then you think of 'big 3' and notice there is a dropoff from 2 to 3 with rockets. Its a big dropoff from Harden Howard to Asik Parsons Lin Bev. Thats an issue that we may need to address? So only harden and howard are untouchable it seems? Seems like we could get something nice if we packaged Lin parsons bev and asik + fillers. Whatever combo of those 4 or all of them even.. and whoever else besides harden and howard. That would be our strongest offer to any team. We have to be willing to lose all 4 in (lin asik parsons bev) if it means getting someone that is little or no dropoff from harden and howard. Aldridge is not much of a dropoff. Howard Aldridge Garcia Harden Brooks Bench Jones Casspi Dmo Canaan Brewer How much better do you like that vs. our current team with lin asik parsons bev? Portland is going to want quality. We cant trade them greg smith and a bag of beans. They can have whatever they want besides harden and howard.
For me, 3rd best be Parsons. 3rd most important however would be Jeremy Lin. Accept it or not, without JLIN, Rockets offense is stagnant. Yes, even with Harden, it is stagnant. If you can't see it even last season the you must be blind. I'm not saying that Rockets can't win without JLIN. On the other hand, it is more than capable to win without him. It's just that the offense is more dynamic with him as the ball handler. You'll notice it even when he's playing with the second unit. Even when there are turnovers, players moving properly without the ball are properly compensated with a good pass. Players playing with him knows they'll get the ball if they move properly to free themselves of the defense.
That's a non-commital, politician answer if I ever saw one. But seriously, who is the 3rd best player on the Rockets in your opinion? I'm saying Parsons based on last year's stats and performance. This year may yield different yet surprising results. I'll still go with Parsons just for the bromance factor.
as of who's the best player after dwight and harden? lin, but most importance on this team? either lin or asik.
