You make a pretty valid point, but Yates was eons behind Keenum during as far as college play. We all know college isn't the NFL but I would bet Keenum's chances of succeeding the NFL are far superior compared to Yates chances. We will see though. I am pumped to see this game though!

    TJ Yates at UNC

    2007 North Carolina 365 218 59.7% 2,655 14 18
    2008 North Carolina 135 81 60.0% 1,168 11 4
    2009 North Carolina 355 214 60.3% 2,136 14 15
    2010 North Carolina 422 282 66.8% 3,418 19 9
    College Totals 1,277 795 62.3% 9,377 58 46

These are sub-standards numbers in the NFL... but in college? oh boy

His # definitely translated to NFL..

3-3 TD-INT as full time starter in his rookie year

In college, they count sacks against your rushing totals.

Not everyone was in a spread offense, y'all jarbonis. If Mariota was at Army he'd be running the option every play. Don't start using stats as a barometer, otherwise we'd have BJ Simmons starting on Sunday.

Actually the game against Oregon was pretty impressive. It was during his freshman year and he came in during the game. Coogs stayed close until midway through the 3rd.

Th reason Keenum ended up going undrafted was because he struggled in his combine workouts (injury) and his college numbers were so ridiculous that people just figured it was the system. Granted, the system did exaggerate those numbers but it wouldn't have been possible without the talent and the intangibles. Just go back to his freshman year in 07, he showed great poise and accuracy from the beginning.

Really? Honestly the entire time TJ played I was just thankful our defense was as good as it was. Arian was also playing out of his mind at the time too. I never thought of TJ as the Texans future QB and he didn't really look the part.

Not that throwing 9 TDs in a game (ANY game) isn't an amazing feat, but that was LITERALLY the worst safety play I think I have EVER seen in my entire life, and that's including the flag football league I'm in.

Keenum also earned varsity letters in basketball and track during his high school career.

    Interesting.

Since Case was on the practice squad last season, is he considered a rookie?

And is there a minimum number of games a rookie has to play in order to qualify for Rookie of the Year?

    Just thinking ahead.

Well, he did play in a pro style offense at UNC. That may have helped in his rookie year

Now I'll watch. Case will shock casual observers imo. he's twice the scrambler of anyone else at this point. We need that right now. To dry and predictable.

With Keenum starting and Bum's passing, this may turn out to be he'll of a game, effort-wise, for Houston. Both sides of the ball should be emotionally charged.
