I'm actually surprised that Morey didn't attempt to sign a veteran PF this summer after we locked up Dwight. Just on a one year contract or something. At the time I'm sure he had hopes of one of the guys stepping up, but dmo tjones and Greg smith?? That's a very inexperienced bunch it pick from.

A veteran like Elton Brand would have been nice to add to the mix. Al Harrington? Both these guys would have probably loved a chance to play with this contender. Harrington I guess was coming off an injury but so was Camby! And Elton got something like 4 mill which would have been too expensive for us but we could have reached out. He may have passed on a couple mill to go to Houston over atlanta!

Think it's pretty obvious no matter what were gonna have one of the worst starting pfs in the league

Duncan. Randolph. Ibaka. David lee. Pau. Faried. Griffin. Bosh. West. Garnett. Sanders. Boozer. Melo. Horford. Blatche

Starting pfs for playoff teams last year. (I think melo was starting at PF no?)
Name one matchup besides Brooklyns where any of our pfs wouldn't have gotten owned.

The time for development is never over. We will need those guys at some point and need them to become good players.

Sam Cassell and Robert Horry were developing players in our championship years.

    Development is never over.

DMo has the most potential, imo, he should be playing quite a lot.

Ibaka, Barnes, Green, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

I count 4 easy ones. 5 including Brooklyn. Boozer and Gasol are old and probably would outplay, but not own the Rockets PFs. Splitter would outplay, but not own our PFs as well.

Sanders, Horford, Blatche are all 5's and played centers position mostly.

To make a fair comparison, name rookie PF's from last season who are clearly better than DMo/Jones or who "wouldn't have gottem owned" by those you named. For obvious reason, #1 overall Davis shouldn't be included.

    Splitter is a center.

So is Duncan. I would expect that the Rockets would treat Duncan as the 5 and have Asik on him in a 7 game series. Whoever you call PF for the Spurs would not own the Rockets last season...that would be Parker.

They were good players in our championship years, who earned their minutes. Horry started from day one, and Cassell took the backup point guard job away from Scott Brooks.

Maybe its an ego think. :)

He's used up so many draft picks over the years looking for a PF. And he's just going to say screw it and sign a vet to do the job?

Guys you know that big men take much longer to develop than say a guard? Both D-Mo & T-Jones are nowhere near their prime and they both will only get better.

However, I get that we're contending and it would probably be for Rockets' best interest to trade for a starting calibre PF while we're in that window of possibly contending for a championship.

Still, you can like or dislike both Donatus and Terrence, but don't call them trash, because they're actually couple of the best PF prospects in this league.

Not an ego thing. The FAs were just too tall to play the position.

In two games this preseason West pretty much got owned didn't he?

versus Orlando PFs - 25 points 16 rebounds - didn't Casspi play a lot at PF??? HOU PFs 30 points 16 rebounds
versus IND PFs Sunday - 6 points 4 rebounds HOU PFs 14 points 10 rebounds
versus IND PFs last week - 24 points 8 rebounds HOU PFs 21 points 10 rebounds

Does not look to me like they are getting owned.

Please do not open mouth and insert foot again without looking up the facts.

Morey is not bringing in a PF who cannot sink the 3 at a reasonable rate. Heck it does not look like Morey is going to roster any non-center that cannot shoot the three. There is only one of those PFs that might be obtainable - Anderson, and every other part of his game is so bad that Morey might trade a chicken wing for him.

Preseason is just as important as playoffs. Mchale was so confident from what he saw from these two last year yet he decided to start Greg smith, delfino and parsons over them at PF.

Why are you so sensitive about dmo and tjones? I'm still confident rockets are gonna be awesome. We got harden and Howard. Lin and parsons. Bev and asik. We just have crappy pfs; no biggie.

    Are you Lithuanian?

The quick and obvious answer to the original question in this thread is no, there is not a chance that both Jones and DMo both move out of the rotation. That really should have been the end of the thread.
