He has a etter market then lin. Better contract, just as good or close as good certianly a better defender, rebounder and shooter.

If Beverley keeps up his level of play he's going to have the 2nd best contract, next to Parsons. I think Bev stays in the Rockets' long term plan.

Agreed, Any Championship caliber team would love to have a beverly as it would relieve so much from their cap space... while talent level stays the same...

but I really doubt the rockets will deal bev... his level of play + his contract is just to good to give up...

but I think once his contract is finished, he might get dealt... as other teams might pay him in 5-6 mill range just to pry him from us...

this is why canaan's development will be impt in the next 1-2 years...

dont think they will trade him any soon, his rookie contract is cheap for his value. only one situation would make it happens, that is twin tower failed and the team in dire need to off load Asik, Bev could be the one the other team's GM ask for in a package. a roll player get traded only because business reason happens all the time in the league. Morey may counter offer with TJ or other less value players but everyone knows if you want to trade NOW they will try to rob you.

(Morey)Talked about the media's role in trades/free agency. Said some teams try to play you in the media, if they think you can be influenced that way they will try to do it. The Rockets aren't influenced by the media and don't use the media to talk about deals.

Or you know they could just trade Lin and have Bev start with Canaan at backup.

Lin makes 8M, Bev makes barely 1M. You trade Lin+one our PFs, and you can afford that top end PF pretty easily.

Morey is the last person I take at face value. I still remember him praising/hyping 2Pat on RocketsCast & then 2 weeks later, he was traded and I was shocked.

Apologies about the Canaan/Beverley comparison, I misread the thread about Morey on 790 and thought he mentioned they had similar skillsets. Looked online at his scouting report and I was wrong.

However Morey did say Canaan will be in the DLeague and they hope by the end of NEXT season he is winning games for the Rockets.

The new CBA means Lin & Asik are goners if they can be dealt for players who are good enough as long as they're locked into long term and lower end contracts or newly signed first round rookie contracts.

This makes sense. I would be sad to see Lin go though being a big fan of boh him and the Rockets.

Patrick Beverley possesses two of the very best qualities for an athlete or any person for that matter. He is utterly fearless and preternaturally unflappable. He stays!

The problem is Beverley cannot push the tempo or pass as well as Lin. Incredible defender, sensational rebounder (for his position), and okay outside shooter. But he cannot start on this team considering the amount of talent we have to pass to.

If Bev is alongside Harden, passing becomes less of a priority for him. That is one of the biggest reasons a lot of people advocate for Lin as 6th man.. the 2nd unit does need someone whose strengths are passing and facilitating.

I really don't care who starts between the two of them -- preseason is a small sample size, but we look pretty good either way IMO. What's clear is that whoever is going to start needs to elevate his entry passing game, and quickly.

I hate the thought of it, but I do see Bev being traded for a player WAY above his current salary.

He is an elite PG, better than Lin, better than Westbrook, on par with CP3. He needs to work on play making and he could seriously be one of the best point guards this league has seen.

Morey is a genius for finding him, unleashing him in the NBA, he is the 3rd best player on this team and is worth so much.

He'll be traded for sure. Damn it, hope not though.

Either way it bodes well. If Lin stays starter, offensive will be explosive, but if Bev starts his elite defense meshes well with Harden. There are good arguments for both sides, I'm intrigued by the prospect of Lin as a 6th man, though.
