Actually it has less to do with Latinos not having a particular affinity for guns to basically EVERYBODY not having an affinity to guns save for a tiny, predominantly white minority that has been able to exercise disproportionate influence.

The big O throwing it down this morning!

Obama To GOP: 'Go Out There And Win An Election' If You Want To Stop Health Care Law

"You don't like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election. Push to change it," Obama said. "But don't break it. Don't break what our predecessors spent over two centuries building. That's not being faithful to what this country's about."

You know, I get pretty tired of both sides ignoring criticism of their party by pointing out something the other party has done.

BOTH THE PARTIES ARE CORRUPT AND TERRIBLE.

    ahem...sorry. But it is true.

The democrats and republicans are both taking hundreds of millions of dollars from the industries that actually control this country. This is why during the bailout billions of dollars got placed into the hands of those who created the economic meltdown in the first place, why the healthcare solution was a transfer payment to insurance companies instead of a single payer system and why no matter what party is in power they still spy on citizens, torture people and spend more on the war machine than the next 10 countries combined.

Our elected leaders from both parties do not represent us. Please stop acting like either party is worth a d***.

One party wants to reduce military spending. The other does not.

One party wants to extend healthcare to all Americans. The other does not.

One party wants to regulate the financial sector to prevent another economic meltdown. The other does not.

If your priorities are single-payer healthcare, reduced military spending, and a well-regulated financial sector, then vote for liberal politicians. America has many of them who have been fighting and will continue to fight for these very things.

What you just said is that liberals are fighting for liberal issues. I think there is more to politics than that. "Well-regulated financial sector?" Do you know anything about economics?

I know a lot of people - no matter religion or ideology - who concur that guns are useful and/or enjoyable. Generalizing the affinity for guns to NRA "bubbas" is a bit hasty, is it not?

Affordable health care for people in a country where medical bills are the number one cause of bankruptcy, spending more on our military than the next 10 countries combined, and regulating Wall Street so they don't crash the world economy.

Why are these "liberal issues"? Maybe that's why you're going to keep losing national elections or you can keep doubling down on what's not working for you and I guess we'll see how that goes.

Eh... were you alive in 2008?

But really Dwight, before we move on to your brilliant take on Wall Street please explain why these are "liberal issues"? I'd like to know why.

The issues of health care and regulating Wall Street are liberal issues because they extend the reach of government power. Generally speaking of the modern-day world, liberals believe in a wider social and economic role for the government, in contrast to classical liberalism, which is the belief that the free market economy is the most productive. The ACA sets up an economy of scale with a barrier to entry, in other words, a natural monopoly. Natural monopolies do not operate supply and demand at competitive equilibrium, and therefore create a deadweight loss. Deadweight loss means there is an inefficiency in the economic process. I don't think most people realize this fact: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, both government entities, led the way in starting the Great Recession with their high-risk lending.

Any action taken by government extends the reach of its power from the formation of Homeland Security to the Iraq War to signing treaties to joining trade organizations and basically everything government does in service and protection of its citizens and interests. A government can't function without the power to act in the best interests of its citizens. That's what government is.

Second, any study of history explains why government power extends as it does. It didn't just magically happen one day. There's a reason there is an FDA and EPA and government regulation on business and it's because the only motive of business is profit and society has concerns that at times override a profit motive. There is a reason why we don't have a completely free market. You simply don't acknowledge the history.

Third, health care is not something that works your supply and demand model. I don't get why you guys don't understand that. Almost every first world country in the world has a government type health system and pays less in per capita medical costs. That's not a theory, it's real world functioning systems that produce most cost effective results for their people. If Americans really knew how this works elsewhere we'd have a single payer overnight.

Your Fannie Mae stuff is just your usual conservative myth. Stop repeating the stuff you hear on talk radio and Fox News, look it up yourself before you assume it to be true.

The GOP will want to bury this story ASAP, and it's up to progressives to never allow the American people to forget which party used tricks to terrorize them for the last month.

You would think, but it seems like they're gearing up for doing it again in the next couple of months.
