Exclusive negotiating window. It's not much, but it's something.

Serious question, and sorry if it's been answered, but, can he throw the ball deep? Any chance he can stretch the field?

Whether Kubiak chooses to throw deep is another issue.

I feel a lot of kubiak not going "deep" is because his offense is limited with Schaub, even tho he will never admit it.

He can, but it's not like he has a cannon for an arm. He deep passes at UH typically had a fair amount of arc to them. It worked in college but I'm not sure how much it translates up a level.

As far as the type of throws he'll be asked to execute, I expect we see a similar passing gameplan to what was given to Yates when he took over for Schaub in 2011. Meaning, very conservative throws. An emphasis on not turning the ball over rather than making plays, especially after the recent struggles of both Schaub and Yates. Of course, it's largely the "conservative", now meaning "predictable", throws that are to blame for our high number of INT's as a team.

Someone needs to do a poll predicting Keenum's performance, with voter names revealed.

    ;)

Keenum is here described as having "limited arm strength." I think the consensus is that his arm is serviceable but nothing impressive.

Yeah. Frankly I'm not feeling great about Keenum, but the kid's a great passer and I'm worried that he won't even get the opportunity to do so.

Will he be able to throw and be aggressive? Or will we be seeing the predictable Kubiak play calling?

Looks like a lamb getting lead out to the slaughter. :p No I'm actually hoping for the miracle that he can actually rally this team and lead them to the playoffs. It's not likely but will be a fun story.

We're sending an undrafted QB, who's never suited up for a game, who graded out terribly in the combine, who's been getting 50/50 starter snaps all week, who's never played on the field in a game or preseason game with the starters, into the fire versus the NFL's best defense.

A defense that isn't "stout" like Seattle's, but instead, a defense that that creates havoc and feasts on mistakes.

On the road. In the most hostile environment in the league.

When we're 2 wins away from 1st in the division.

I'm not saying we're idiots for playing Keenum, I'm just shocked at the enthusiasm. Logically, this is a crappy scenario for the Houston Texans. Logic dictates absolute, utter failure in this scenario. "But Ziggy, we have nothing to lose" - again, 2 wins away from 1st in the division...

Vegas is smart enough to move the line further towards the Chiefs with Keenum in the lineup. I guess Houston fans aren't as smart.

Here come the - "Tony Romo did it", "Tom Brady wasn't heralded" folks... again, logic dictates Keenum will be selling insurance like the rest of the UH grads, not dating a super model and selling Ugg boots.

I hope/prey he proves me wrong, I want nothing more than to have a capable, rookie-scale-locked-in QB at the helm for the next few years while we allocate our cap dollars to other positions, and aren't hamstrung by a typical, high-dollar QB contract. But... logic doesn't dictate that will happen. And I don't look at sports with a blind eye, I try to not play the homer, and I assess the situation logically. That's the smart thing to do.

Case is going to be banging Kate Upton and taking the Texans to the Super Bowl at the end of the season. Book it.

Case's career arc is eerily similar to Tom Brady's so far.

If Kubes was conservative with the QB he trusts the most, why would he suddenly be aggressive with the guy who has no NFL experience who was 3rd on the depth chart going into the season? Against the defense that has the most INTs this season?

When you consider the coach and the situation, it doesn't make any sense for them to be aggressive. Not more that what we've seen out of the Texans offense to this point.
