I'm really high on ilyasova, moor so than any noon star pf. But i all believe that asik Carries more value than just receiving ilyasova. We would have to also receive some kind of asset. Whether that be a first, second or overseas rights of a player. I def wanna target ilyasova, but asik has got to carry more value than a stright player for player swap on or end...
I could see this trade happening, however I think I would go all in and try to win this season. We need a backup center we can depend upon if we trade away Asik. So I would amend you trade proposal as follows. Hou: IN: Robin Lopez, Ilyasova Out: Asik, Greg Smith Portland: In: Asik, Greg Smith Out: McCollum, Lopez Mil: In: McCollum Out: Ilyasova Greg Smith could go to either team, just needs to include him for salary cap matching purposes. Robin Lopez is overpaid but a decent backup option that might be available in a deal like this. Once you are over the cap over paying a player a mil or two doesn't really matter until you are in the penalty.
When the Lakers get shut out of free agency..they will be begging for Asik/Lin for a re-signed Gasol.
definately wouldnt want him than no more so than i dont want him now. doesnt fit in with our offensive image. besides they didnt mesh well in LA, even if dwight said he liked playing with pau.
Your proposal does not work because the salaries do not come close to evening out. Why can't Greg Smith be Houston's backup C? Take a look at each team's backup C. The league is not exactly chock full of awesome backup Cs. Although I agree that Robin Lopez would be one hell of a good backup C.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=k3r2uvj The trade works fine with the salary cap: See below. Non-Taxpaying Teams Outgoing salary Maximum incoming salary $0 to $9.8 million 150% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,0002 $9.8 million to $19.6 million The outgoing salary plus $5 million2 $19.6 million and up 125% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,000
This works, though: Ersan Ilyasova, Robin Lopez, and a protected Blazers first round pick to Houston Thomas Robinson and C.J. McCollom to Milwaukee Omer Asik, Donatas Motiejunas, and Luke Ridnour (expiring contract) to Portland Starting Five Jeremy Lin James Harden Chandler Parsons Ersan Ilyasova Dwight Howard The Rest of the Rotation Patrick Beverly Omri Casspi Robin Lopez Francisco Garcia End of the Bench Terrence Jones Greg Smith Ronnie Brewer Aaron Brooks Stashed in the Developmental League Isaiah Canaan Robert Covington Cuts Marcus Camby Reggie Williams
