Indirect evidence that data exists somewhere-- the paper http://www.sloansportsconference.co...rt-Ayer-Sloan-Sports-Analytics-Conference.pdf which in reaching it's conclusions divides players into categories. One category is: Cluster 7: High scoring, high assist, high steals, high turnover point guards, who don’t shoot 3s So they are definitely including the high turnover stat as part of the grouping. That implies high risk/high reward type players have been analyzed to some extent somewhere.
Rereading the paper says that, at least in this instance, it doesn't so much imply they have been analyzed as that they exist, and can be part of a successful team combination.
Yes, both shots were open, Lin had to take the shots. They were just missed. But he made the next jumper. It could happen a lot of things in 7 and a half minutes. Before Lin subbed in, Nets had a 9-2 run and they got the ball back again due to D-Mo's offensive foul. That's why Lin was brought back in. It was a closed game toward the end.
Look how much Popovich hates Parker, Ginobili and Duncan. He benched all 3 of them for the whole game last night! Poor marketing move.
LMAO! Bad example, Morpheus, you forgot David Stern fined Spurs for $250,000.00 for benching Parker, Ginobili, Duncan and Green for the Miami game on November, 19, 2012. I know you are talking about the preseason game, but Pop has the habit of benching their starters. Please noted the word starters not starter!
Indeed there were some comments from Mchale about Jlin last season made me confused. But I'll convince myself not to read too much into it. While being asked about Asik's new role, His "I didn’t know Omer was the general manager" talk made me feel " Ouch! that hurt.." too. So maybe Mchale is just not that good at talking haha. Too much doubt will just hurt the team. The season is just beginning. Don't want any old history to hust the bright new future. They are good and I wish them and the team all the best~
What McHale should have done is make Jeremy Lin run out of the stadium without any security, then the mobs of LOFs would run after him. Have a secret car parked a block away, have Lin jump in the car, then have the arena lock the doors. the car drives back to the arena and drops Lin off on the Rockets bench, and who's left in the stands were really there for the game!
I didn't forget about that, Popovich hates them so much he is willing to get fined in order to bench them. Obviously any time a player doesn't start or play it is because the coach hates them
