Not that this should be a big deal, but we know our Texans have trouble with anything out of the ordinary. Kubiak said he's going to "start from scratch" this week, whatever the hell that means, so maybe they will actually be prepared! Probably not. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9...s-city-chiefs-breaks-world-record-noise-level
another reason why I don't Case Keenum to start against the Chiefs. Let him start after the bye week. Let him get a bunch of reps in practice. He needs a fair shake at becoming the starting quarterback both Schaub and Yates have had a bunch of reps and regular season and post season snaps.
Houston Texans mini-era of being contenders is almost over. If they don't at least get to the conference finals in these next two years it'll be a HUGE disappointment.
and by the time we get a legitimate starting quarterback again Andre Johnson's contract will be up and he will want to go to a contender and I don't blame him.
This won't be pretty. Defense full of ballhawks and consistent pressure on qb. Third straight blowout.
If the Texans are playing to win this game, seriously they should just have Matt Schaub start. If the Texans are playing to see what they have in their QB's knowing full well that they will most likely lose to a disciplined team like KC, they should toss Keenum into the fire. Sure the outcome might not be pretty, but atleast one can determine if there is a chance that a salvagable season can occur. If not, the Texans better be looking to draft a QB with the 1st pick in the draft next season. If Keenum suprisingly passes this test and actually plays well and looses, he will be in excellent position to provide a spark to this team, and will have 2 weeks to get ready for the Colts. If Keenum does the unthinkable and wins at Arrowhead, he deserves to take the reigns of this team. And Schaub can be his backup. Secretly Im hoping for this to happen, but knowing the Texans, Kubiak and his evaluations of talent, and Rick Smith's tremendous draft IQ...i dont see any scenario in which the Texans really can win this game or be a factor in anything the rest of the season.
I would love to trade Dre to a contender for picks...at least so that he can win a title...He seriously was screwed by this franchise after everything he has done to help position his team to be relevant(ie sacrificing salary, suffering throughout the terrible years, and being the only source of hope for the Texans) Dre deserves better than this...He really is the only player that deserves to say anyhting on his mind. He gets that pass in my eyes!
Schaub is the worst type of QB to play against the Chiefs. They are good at harassing the passer and the combination of Schaub being a statue + the Texans OL plays right into their hands. The crowd noise issue doesn't mean much but the Chiefs have always had some of the most devoted fans in the NFL. People are only paying attention this year because of their record.
I think Calvin Johnson and A.P. will go on the list with Andre. Great players who will never play in a Super Bowl.
Of course AJ gets a pass. This is not his doing. But, to be fair, AJ has not sacrificed a dime for the Texans. He has restructured his contract (defer guaranteed money), but he has not lowered his total $ amount. If we can draft Tajh Boyd or Manziel, I feel like our rebuild will not take forever with our current core of skill players. Hopefully AJ will want to stick around.
Its a lose lose situation. They sacked a mobile QB in Terrel Pryor about 10 times...thats crazy...to think that Keenum in that pressure wont sucumb to getting hit, is just not being realistic. Schaub as poorly as he has played is our best chance to win. He has a proven track record of being an average QB...I dont think that he puts another poor performance out there...and he has to be fired up for this game. Putting Schaub out there might be our best bet. As pathetic as that sounds, seriously. Now of course if he gets picked off or throws yet another pick 6....he will be done in Houston for sure. And expect Case to suit up this weekend. Just have a feeling that if things are close and manageable, Case may get the nod over TJ if Schaub has a turnover. TJ has had 3 years to really develop an understanding of this offense, and after that piss poor performance against a really bad Rams team, he too deserves to be overlooked at KC. A loss at KC should spell the end of the Schaub era in Houston. But just to put things all in perspective...The Colts are just 2 games ahead of us in the standings at 4-2(loss tonight at SD). The Texans are due for a break out game, and it has to be coming(almost 10 games or so of bad football).
Honestly, if you really want Schaub to pull out of his QBDS (QB Death Spiral), the last thing you want is for him to start next week.
As Matt gets more confidence in his throws...he would find an open Arian Foster on that scramble outside the pocket instead of trying to go for 6(the Hopkins attempt). Matt had a decent game until the collective wheels fell off. After the Rams scored on their second drive, Matt had the team rolling, until the ill timed fumble by the rookie(#10)...that turnover flipped field position and resulted in a FG. Houston was only down 10... On Houston's third drive, they were at the redzone, when Newton's dumb penalty took them out of a 3rd and 4 and left them with a 3rd and 9. End result 3. Houston down by 7. On STL 4th drive, they ended up catching the Texans D napping(and playing poorly and undesciplined) resulting in a TD. Hou down 2 scores: 17 - 3. And with the Texan 2 minute offense, the ended up getting a FG attempt(shouldve been 6). Matt just missed Arian on the wheel route. Open space shouldve atleast been a 1st. If the Texans scored 7 we wouldve been only down by 7. Instead a missed PI, and Matt still trying to work things thru got 3 instead of 6. Houston into the break only down 11. Where i got mad was...after Half time, the Texans completely forgot that they were crushing the Rams on the ground. They shouldve made a concerted effort to start and establish a running attack. A stalled 3rd quarter drive really hurt our team. We needed points to gain confidence and a lack of halftime adjustments cost the Texans a chance to fight back. A score there wouldve changed the complexion of the game and really wouldve gotten the Texans to believe. After that moment, everything fell apart.
If Keenum somehow would beat the Chiefs alot of hype would go his way . Something I have seen from Keenum is he never gets rattle and his drive to be good is unbelievable. Plus I think Kubiak has told him since last week to get resdy. Is now or never for the season to be salvage so might as well start Keenum I think the Texanscan surprise the Chiefs. 25-23 Texans win with Keenum starting.
