What would Keenum have done in this situation?

He probably would have started to run, but then noticed Foster and thrown it to him.

Its funny that people would be calling for Schaub to check down to Foster... when in reality he went for the end zone on this play (and probably should have got a completion if not for a missed holding against Hopkins... at least he would have drawn a flag).

Isn't that the exact same scenario that everybody criticizes this offense for all the time? Throwing short of the first down marker... not throwing into the end zone... not throwing it up and attempting to let your WR make a play or at least draw a flag?

Same sort of logic occurs when people complain this team is too conservative and lacks imagination in the play calling... yet people also start to complain that they don't run the "successful" plays over and over again.

My bet is on Keenum starting.

I think Yates got the #2 spot because Kubiak never thought it would come to this. Never thought that Schaub would play so horribly to lose his job, so he never thought it would come to this. I think they see Keenum as more of a replacement that has to be groomed and Yates a backup.

Foster was wide open, it's one thing to throw to a tight end 5 yards short of a 1st with the defense ganged around him, it's another to throw it to a running back in open space. There was a very good chance he gets a 1st down at least.

Most check-downs are wide open. Most of the time, Schaub's completions are to guys wide open. Foster is open in the picture, but with the time it takes to turn and make the throw, defenders are going to be closer.

Just find it funny that he gets critcized for never trying to "make a play, and throw it to the end zone/past the first down marker", yet gets criticized here for not checking down.

If they have no faith in Case, release him so he can become a starter on another team. I am utterly convinced that he can be a star in this league. If the Texans are not smart enough to see his potential cut him lose. Kubiak is starting to remind me of Ed Peterson, the infamous ex Oiler coach.

This is some "Any Given Sunday" stuff right here. Keenum is Willie Beamen.

That would be the case with any team with a struggling starting NFL QB.

The reality is he was an undrafted player who lasted the entire season on the practice squad. He comes from a school/conference that is hard pressed to produce any viable NFL QB's. And if the regime changes, Case likely is not going to be a part of it.

He's as much a system QB as any of the other guys they've had in here.

Schaub has had every chance in the world to lead this team forward. Scouting reports had him a career back up. I am not sure anyone even remembers what school or conference he graduated from. Yates is from North Carolina, not a football powerhouse, another career back up. Why not give Case a chance, what are you afraid of? Another loss? Ha. If he flops you can laugh for weeks. If he succeeds, I will. For God's sake people, Aaron Rogers came from Cal. Berkley, more known for "dope smoking" than football. What difference does it make where Case came from? It is about what he can do.

Gotta hope Indy looses against san Diego. If they do, they got the broncos at home next week. We Have to beat Kansas city. Because after bye week we have the colts. Start Keenum!!

And yet all those QB's from worthless schools you mentioned were drafted... Case was not.

It wasn't for disciplinary or character reasons either... it was because he wasn't thought to have the requisite tangible skills to be a #1 or #2 NFL QB.

I don't really care all that much about Yates... but I wouldn't put all that much faith in Keenum either. Regardless of what happens, the next long-term starter for the Texans is likely not on this team.

Using the term system QB is just so vague. Yes, Keenum was in the same offensive system throughout his career at UH, but what QB in any football team isn't in a "system"? We don't know whether or not he only thrives in that style of offense, but we aren't gonna find out unless we play him.

I'm saying that he's likely going to bring the same or less qualities to the current system that Schaub/Yates do. He's not going to be a threat to win games entirely with either his legs or his arm... he's in the league because he potentially can fit this system, which happens to be a QB friendly system that attempts to turn chicken **** into chicken salad.

I remember when folks said the same about Colt Brennan. At least he was drafted.
