& stripper smell is a WEIRD one! It's distinct, they all kind of smell the same. I wonder if they have some chemical bath every so often they're put through by their establishments. I instantly recognize that one when it gets near my face.

No idea why he's applying to his hands. I can understand wrists, but I never apply to my hands. Usually only chest, under my shirt. Sometimes neck and wrists as well if I'm going somewhere like a bar/club where it's gonna reek of booze and cigs.

Older women usually do wear some pretty awful stuff, but you have to remember that scent is extremely subjective. What smells terrible to me or you may smell fantastic to someone else. Also, it may surprise you, but (unlike fake body parts) a lot of people don't wear a fragrance to please the others around them. They wear fragrances that they themselves enjoy, as our sense of smell is one of the most powerful senses and a simple smell can bring back many good memories (especially for older people) and even uplift someone's mood for the day. This still doesn't excuse flagrant overspraying, but it's something to consider the next time you smell the old lady's terrible perfume and wonder why in the world she wore it.

As for strippers, I've dated a few and can tell you they all kinda smell the same bc they all share bodysprays/perfumes/makeup in the dressing room. Most of the stuff is fruity/florals from Bath & Body Works/Victoria's Secret/Flowerbomb/Angel. However, you can't deny that the smell is usually intoxicating!

I tend to agree in spirit with an earlier poster... I don't like wearing colognes (to my wife's dismay). I prefer a clean, light smell (soap, Old Spice antiperspirant, and a few aftershaves I alternate... Old Spice, Aqua Velva, Nivea Sensitive ASB). And even the aftershaves are generally lighter and fade within an hour.

Not criticizing those that use colognes, just not something I ever got into. My wife tried to convert me with a bottle of Jean Paul Gaulthier... sits in the cabinet collecting dust.

Picked up a 100ml of Dior Homme Intense today from the Dior Homme store @ Union Square San Fran. Wooooooooow is all I gotta say!!! Unbelievable fragrance, sucks that there are so few places to pick it up in person. Also got some samples from the Creed counter at Neiman Marcus... gotta say, I am very impressed by Green Irish Tweed, Aventus, Royal Water, Millesime Imperial, Silver Mountain Water, Virgin Island Water, Himalaya, and Original Santal. Overall just a very impressive line. I will own at least 2 of these in the next week or two after I give the samples a full wearing to see which ones work the best on my skin. CANT WAIT.

I'm not a fan of iris. DHI smelled like chocolately makeup powder or lipstick to me. Try Chanel 28 La Pausa and Serge Lutens’ Iris Silver Mist for scents in the same neighborhood as DHI.

I love Green Irish Tweed. I recommend you also try vintage Tabarome, Jardin d'Amalfi, and Zeste Mandarine.

That's a spectacular fragrance. Also sample Habit Rouge EdT, Nicolai's New York, and Creed's Bois du Portugal.

I've got several samples of Creed. The biggest issue with Creed fragrances is that they generally don't have much in the way of longevity. Several complain about paying that much for something that doesn't stay on your skin for long. After trying the samples, I have to agree. I have a bottle of Silver Mountain Water and love Himalaya. BTW, if you like Green Irish Tweed, go smell Davidoff's Cool Water. They smell eerily similar... ;)

You gotta find a cologne that matches your skin type. See above post.

For me? L'eau D'issey By Issey Miyake For Men. I can't count how many times my female coworkers/friends/total strangers have made positive comments about it.

Also, there's a reason people spray perfume/cologne on the wrists and neck area. That's where pulse points are, which releases heat and thus the fragrance.

I've heard about the Cool Water/GIT comparison, and they definitely smell similar, but GIT is definitely better IMO. I did a blind test with 2 strips just to make sure I wasn't perceiving the more expensive GIT as better just based on price, and I was able to pick it out every time.

Kinda been on a spree recently, ended up getting bottles of GIT, Millesime Imperial, Terre d'Hermes Parfum, Dior Homme (already had Intense version), Pure Malt, and Bleu de Chanel (wanted another versatile everyday fragrance).

Bond No. 9 Wall Street and Burberry Brit are my two favorites. I like the scent of Wall Street a little better, however, Brit smells better on me after the first couple hours.

Yeah, but when people always say things like "oh hey, I used to wear Cool Water, too! Man, that brings back memories!"... when you're wearing GIT, *sigh* :D

I walked into a restaurant the other day and sat down... guy walks in and I'm immediately teleported back to the 1980's. He was wearing Drakkar Noir. That fragrance has always been among my favorite colognes ever, but damn if you'll ever catch me wearing it. lol.

What do you think of Pure Malt? I bought a bottle a few years ago... it's potent. I doubt I'll ever use it all at the rate I'm going. I also grew weary of "sugary" colognes a while back. I may switch to using it more this winter. I have a sampler of Millesime Imperial - can't remember why I didn't buy it, but it may be due to longevity and Dior Homme/Homme Intense are on my list of possible buys.

My girlfriend was buying some stuff from Clinique, I was wandering around looking at Men's products. (Their men's face wash and lotions are excellent).

I smelt two of their colognes... The HAPPY wasn't bad, a citrusy cologne, I wouldn't buy it, but not terrible.. On the other hand, this CHEMISTRY stuff, was complete ****. One of the worst colognes I've ever smelt. It's woody, gingery, ****ty, super overpowering - it's really bad.... So, don't buy that.

I'm liking Pure Malt a LOT, especially now that the weather is cooling down. It's actually not too sweet to me... Pure Havane was much sweeter when I tested it. It's also not as cloying and overpowering as the original A*Men, so out of the 3, PM was my favorite.

It's very possible you get bad longevity out of MI, as I've heard a lot of people do. This could possibly have to do with Creed's notorious batch variations, as I seem to get about 6 hours with this one, which I consider really good for this type of scent considering my dry skin.

I absolutely love Dior Homme and DHI. They may be slightly repetitive, and if you were to only get one, I'd go with DHI for sure. A lot richer with more of the cocoa note, and the performance is insane (I could still smell it faintly on one of my shirts a week after I wore it and put it thru a laundry cycle). However, DH serves a purpose for me as well since it's easier to wear during the day and in warmer weather.

Running out of things on my to-buy/try list... I'm thinking LIDG/LIDGE, Tobacco Vanille (or L'Occitane's similar Eau de Baux), Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche, and Chanel Platinum Egoiste... anyone have any thoughts on these? Or any other suggestions?

I have Polo Black and Blue (I like Blue more than Black). I also have Armani Code which actually blends well with my skin type.

I also have a Perry Ellis one laying around but I do not know what its called and the smell isn't very pleasant either.

Finally got around to trying Tobacco Vanille. It's pretty good with phenomenal performance, but I keep getting the feeling it smells similar to Spicebomb, just more mature/refined. It's also supposed to be very similar to Eau des Baux.
