I don't know the long-term answer. But after listening to Kubes press conference, knowing Schaub is dinged, his confidence is shot, and the team confidence is in the crapper, knowing that Yates took us backward, knowing we're on the road facing an undefeated team with a defense that ratchets up pressure....if Kubes doesn't run Keenum out there this week...I don't think he ever will.

In my humble opinion, it makes no sense to try to run Schaub out there this week. He was immobile before yesterday. He's going to be even more immobile Sunday. The Chiefs are bringing the rush. He's a sitting duck. It has to be Yates or Keenum. Of those two Keenum is by far more effective in scramble mode. We're expected to lose anyways. This is the 4th down and the season play that Kubes has to go on. We can't run up the gut (Schaub). We can't punt (Yates). Gotta go for it. In my opinion if Kubes is going to go from being a good coach to a great head coach in this league this is the kind of decision he has to make.

When is the time for him being a good head coach?

Right now. This is a key moment that he can grasp or he can fumble it away to mediocrity. His career is at a crossroads right now. Doesn't mean he couldn't still be great later. He could fumble this moment away and come back and still come to another point where he becomes great. But....the odds are he won't. Marv Levy was terrible terrible for years until he changed his style and thought process and became great. Marv fumbled away several opportunities with the Chiefs years ago...finally got canned...then later came back with the Bills and became great. But you can count the Marv Levy's .... on one finger.

I think he gets the Alex Smith treatment this offseason if Yates or Keenum are not the answer.

And what is the season like now with Schaub as the starter? And why are people so afraid of change? It's ridiculous.

There's a reason he's third string and a walk on. I'd love to see him come in and be a bad ass but I don't see it happening. Everyone was clamoring for Yates, how did that work?

Plus, throwing out keenum to start his first game at kc is suicide

"Matt is getting some injections as we speak. Very sore on the leg/ankle. Got lucky there."

"Matt's an end of the week decision. I'll prepare Case and T.J."

"Matt played better. Moved the football, moved the team. He improved. He was doing much better yesterday."

I don't think the next long term QB of this team is on the roster and I am the biggest UH fan there is but I know Keenum has limitations and arm strength is #1 on the list.

If you watched the CUSA Championship against Southern Miss they basically dared him to throw deep down the sideline and he wasn't physically capable of making the throw and they never even tried.

Wait... Keenum's arm strength is questionable?

This is an "urban myth" coming out of the combine where he was bothered by a nagging injury. The championship loss was not on Keenum, he actually played quite well, but the whole team was "down" after hearing Sumlin was leaving. I have seen him throw the ball forty plus yards numerous times. There were some videos on here during preseason of him throwing sixty plus yard passes for TDs at UH. His TD passes to Jean in preseason were examples of more than adequate arm strength. Case is very smart, very tough, elusive, and resourceful. He would spark this team if given a chance. He might be the answer. If not, there will be plenty of time to draft a QB. Let the boy have his turn!

Keenum wasn't the reason they lost that game. His arm strength is fine from what I've seen.

At the very least I'd say rest Schaub, start Yates but any signs of trouble or any small hint of ineffectiveness, replace him with Keenum. Have both ready to go during the week, give them equal time with the 1st team.

Knowing Kubiak, I wouldn't be surprised to see Schaub out there battling through his injury though.

at this point its ANYONE BUT SCHAUB.. you guys can beat your chests when the replacments come in and fail.. congrat matt schaub is better than backups and released qbs currently floating around in qb purgatory.. hes the best of the worst.. a change needs to be made because SCHAUB IS NOT THE ANSWER.. so tired of people saying he give us the best chance to win.. chance to win 10-11 games and fluff out in the playoffs, put up 4000 yards but be in the bottom half in total points.. completely disappear when teams like the pats and broncos are giving the defense fits..

we need change, even if its a step back.. at 2-4 seems like the perfect time. if we were 5-1 right now no one would be thinking about change but we still would probably be at best a division round appearance.. this teams peak with matt schaub is division round fluff

If Keenum does play, I have a feeling Kubiak's play calling will be very similar to the game where he officially gave up on David Carr. Be prepared to see lots of 3 yard dump passes to Graham and Foster.

A lot of things went wrong during the CUSA championship game that never happened during the season, receivers were tripping at the line of scrimmage and dropping a lot of passes they'd normally make.

Hopefully, even with bad play calling, Keenum is smart enough to not throw such dumb passes. Our QBs can't seriously have their hands tied so much were only one receiver is an option. Second thought, Gary prob is that dumb.

Did Keenum ever pump fake during the preseason?

Ya. We can go into the bye week trailing 1 game if we can get the upset... Schaub will start. Dammit we can turn it around! I believe!
