I don't think you can get better advice than this.

For me, it was absolutely essential to study in the library. I was in there every single day, even if only for 20 minutes or so. I also had to have some music on my iPod.

Towards the end of my college career, when I was pretty much just taking classes for my major and already knew 90% of what was being covered in class*, I didn't need to study as much. But early on, I had to live in the library.

    *
My senior year I actually got to guest-teach two different classes for a day: one on the history of economic thought in the US, and another on the cause and cure of depressions. That was the highlight of my time in college.

Try making meditation a part of your daily routine. You only need to do it for about 15 minutes a day. Studies show that not only does it improve your general attitude, but it also increases your attention span. With so much technology at our fingertips, it's easy to be distracted by more interesting things than a boring old textbook--maybe meditation can help you focus.

    Tell me about it.
    College is a different animal.
I just can't get motivated with crappy non-major specific courses.

I do fine in my major-related courses because I actually WANT to take those classes.

    Gen ed. is bull****.

Maybe you have too much energy and don't like sitting in one place too long ?

Try doing some exercise in between study sessions to get some more blood flow into your brain. Like jumping jacks, pushups, situps, etc. or go out for a short walk around the block.

cut out all the distractions in your life. CF might qualify as a distraction, as blasphemous as it sounds. You gotta have fun in college, but learning to prioritize is a big lesson and one of the most important things.

Not sure if you go to UH, but I graduated from there. I loved my time there and had a lot of fun while accomplishing all of my goals, but only after becoming disciplined. If all else fails, befriend people in your classes if you haven't already. Having a reference point like that keeps you motivated if you're competitive (e.g. friend already completed homework and learned the new concept, so you know you need to get on that ASAP).

I was always terrible at studying in groups, but it works for some people. If anything, I preferred to study with 1 or max 2 people who I knew were focused and wouldn't goof off.

What do you want to do in life?

haha thats true. The sad part is UH isn't even as difficult as other major universities.

    Is it for Kinesiology?

I cut off most of my distractions this year. The only distraction I really have is Clutchfans. I do need to learn how to prioritize tho.

I do go to University of Houston. To be honest, I'm actually pretty social and make friends easily. The biggest issue I have is going to class because those classes are so boring. Or when I do go to class, paying attention in those classes (I sit in the middle most of the time, not too in the front but not too in the back). Another issue is I do not like sitting in one spot studying, I get bored and lose motivation due to it.

I tried studying in group last year and it was useless, I realized that they slow my studying down a little bit. I'm better at studying alone but having another person around me so I can ask for help when I need it. Similar to you, I'd rather have 2-3 people with me to study rather than a large group.

I could try this and meditation to see how it goes.

I'm majoring in Kinesiology (Health Professions). I'm not very good at science but I am interested in being a Physical Therapist. People say do what you like and not what you find super easy and boring. So I chose the route of Kinesiology because I like it.

definitely recommend finding a study group. It's more fun and you can make good friends that way.

study group really helped me out during an Econometrics course. You share your knowledge, study with that, put it all together, then go out and get drunk.

There's this movie I watched and it gave me the power to concentrate on my classes while I was going to college. I know it will help YOU:

In all seriousness, dude, just SLEEP WELL, eat well, get some exercise, and hang out with the nerdy ugly-duckling girls in the class. They will start to look good after a while but you'll get your studying done.

BAD use of smilies! FAIL!

Of course but you are asking for ways to study and that is a good way IMO. Good Luck.
