Howard and Hibbert essentially canceled each other out both games, so it was up to the other players to out-do each other.

Doesn't this just tell you how great Yao was? :( Literally dominated Dwight in his prime where a player close to his prime like Hibbert can only cancel out a post injured Dwight.

Hibbert's probably the biggest center in the NBA today. Dwight will not have as much trouble shooting over any other center as he did the past two games.

Besides, Dwight had a ton of attention on him. The Pacers played him like a superstar, which allowed opportunities for others that you never saw last year with Asik.

He didnt have any problem shooting over him last season when he was with the Lakers. Scored 17pts the 1st game and 20pts in the 2nd game. If he would have hit his freethrows, he would have really dominated Hilbert. Out of 23 freebies Howard only made 9 in both games. He also had 8 rbs in the 1st game and 12 in the 2nd.

So he will do just fine when we play them in the regular season.

Playing against Hibbert is difficult in itself and actually just by being on the court Howard changes so much out there. With Howard and Harden we have two true superstar caliber players. And with th rest of out young players, we're good to go.

He was on pace for 15 and 9 with 3 blocks and 3 assists against one of the better post defenders in the NBA.

That's better than what Marc Gasol averaged last season. And it was a BAD GAME for Dwight.

    He's going to be fine.

Hibbert is definitely a Dwight killer, also one of the best, if not #1 post defenders in the NBA, I wouldn't be too worried.

Dude, IND murdered us both times last year. The fact that Howard beutralized Hibbert is already a big deal.

I did see we were trying to get Howard's post game going, that's why there were too many passes to him even when he was not successful. Too many IND guys hanging onto him.

As I posted earlier, he needs a short bank jumper so that his post moves don't get predictable. And to avoid too much pounding when he goes inside. And he needs to pass out to the 3pt line to keep opponents from shutting down the paint.

It'll be interesting if we will try Garcia and Casspi with Howard.

Dwight must be ecstatic to play on a team when he may have a bad game and the other guys can cover the slack.

And he'll not chastised for the way he played.

I wonder if there are any threads on the Pacers fan board titled "Am I The Only One Who Noticed How Much Roy Struggled?"

Dwight was awesome on defense, he made one bank shot and through down the balls that were lobbed over the rim at him. He was not good trying to back down his defender in the post.

Pretty much the same can be said for Hibbert. He really struggled trying to score in the post against Dwight. No question that Dwight out played Roy tonight.

Dwight struggle offensively, yes. But the days of Hibbert completely owning the Rockets are over. Even Omer at his best wouldn't cut it. Just based off of these two preseason games, It's clearly Dwight that's bullying Hibbert around despite him being the taller guy. Dwight is clearly a freak of nature and just flick guys around like rag dolls. The dude is incredibly powerful. I like it.

Most he just needs to pass the ball out to the perimeter sooner when he's getting mauled.

He didn't have any shooters to pass to last season in LA so he probably got used to having to do it all himself.

He was good about kicking it out in Orlando so he should improve in that area as he gets back into the swing of things.

Excuse my lack of basketball X's and O's knowledge, but the PnR that I see run by Harden and Howard has Harden curling around Howard after the pick, and Howard rolling 'around' instead of rolling directly to the basket. Perhaps it is the way the Pacers were defending them, but I have yet to see a 'simple' pick and roll to the basket for an easy alley-oop. The way it was talked about during the off season, I figured our PnR would be automatic.

I realize this is why teams play pre-season games, to work these things out. I can't wait to see a rhythm develop between the two of them, much like we saw with TMac and Yao during the Rd 1 Mavs series in 05.

Howard is going to feast on almost every team this year. Back to back games against Hibbert is a tall order.

Howard is fine, and with some of those alley oops you can tell his athletism is back baby!!

I have been wondering the same, if only they would run a lot more PnRs for Howard the team would be so much deadlier, PnR is actually a huge part of Howard's game since he's so explosive, it would also open up so many lanes and jumpers for any of the shooters/slashers.

I'm not opposed to that mid-range bank shot that he's been working on. It has been super-effective for Duncan and if the defense respects it enough, they will bite on his fakes, making it easier to drive to the basket.

So far, I've seen him attempt it 3 times(?) and make it once.
