What happen when the game slowed down to half court offense, they struggle. Howard didn't have a clue of what to do. This is exactly what kareem was talking about. (intelligence) You just can't make a move in the paint and be effective against tough defense without any thought process. You got to think the game and until he gets that he will never dominate.

It's also called growing pains. I said it before, post-play is not just dependent on a one on one match-up per say. It isn't just Dwight vs. Roy, let's say. You need spacing and the correct motions of the supporting players for post-play to work. It is a fine craft in of itself.

At this point, I'd rather keep AB over Covington if the choice comes down to these two (and it may well not).

The Rockets need a competent 3rd PG because that 3rd PG is gonna play if either Lin or Beverley has to miss time. Right now, Canaan looks far from ready. For a team trying to fight for home court advantage, I'd much rather have AB than Canaan in that role.

Covington, meanwhile, might be a very good shooter and is certainly someone the team likes given the contract they gave him. However, he does not look quite ready now and the team is trying to win now. Also, it's not like they project him to be any more than a future decent role player. If he was that great, somebody would have drafted him.

Howard doesn't need to dominate on offense, if you you just use him like we were using Asik last year he should average 18 points a game. I think with Howard just being in there opens up the offense, and his D is great.
