Piland's football career is over due to concussions: http://www.uhcougars.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/100813aaa.html
Wow. I think having him as backup would have been nice if he had to play a series or two in the ncaa championshiop game. Ward is interesting, but he's a runner first thus far. So such a different shift in style if O'Korn needs a series off. Nothing against Piland, but he was inconsistent on third down and often time short armed throws and picked the wrong WR on critical downs. Everything seemed a little less certain with him in the pocket. Part of that is that nobody can be Case Keenum. So expectations too high. He was a decent qb in the big picture. But just average at best.
What is this im hearing about College gameday possibly coming to Houston next week for the BYU game? anyone else heard this rumor? Not sure why they would choose use over the clemson/fsu game next week, but it would be awesome for college gameday to come back to houston again!

Don't feel bad, I only started going to games because I got extra credit from a class. This was during the beginning of the Art Briles era though, so completely different times.
Yes. You get in free. Take advantage of that. (actually, with the move to the AAC do you guys still get in free?)
watched the second half of the louisville/rutgers game...i think we might have a shot at beating louisville
I agree, but Rutgers-Louisville is a rivalry game and shouldn't be indicative of anything. If we can beat BYU, i'll feel better about our chances.
Anytime you have receivers like Ambles and Greenberry to throw and O'Korn getting better with a good defense this UH team aint no joke of course they can beat them.
Thank goodness he's graduating. I remember seeing all the Estonian tennis players, French b-ballers and Australian swimmers at Cougar Place after Allison, all the jocks went to summer school and glad to see some of them made the most of it.
Congrats to the Coogs for a good year so far. I wasn't expecting much from the team this year, so I am surprised with all the wins. They really haven't played anyone yet, but they are winning. It will be interesting to see how they do against BYU.
Now that the 5 gimmies are out the way, it's time for the real part of the schedule. I had us going 7-5 going into the season, but with how Rutgers and Cincy have played, we can beat them. As for the game today, the crowd was horrible. I know it was an 11 AM game, but hardly anyone was there, especially the students. Hopefully we have a better showing next Sat vs BYU because BYU is a quality opponent.
This is true, there was not that many students at the game when you consider the total number of students attending UH. But then again UH is always dead on the weekends, it feels like everyone goes home. I went to the game and I had fun. Only in Texas can I get a sunburn (did not expect that) and then get soaked all in the span on about 4 hours.
Nervous about the BYU game. Besides their ability to run it down your throat, BYU could very well have a good turnout since there are a TON of BYU alums in Houston.
