interesting thought original poster i would definitely give it a try during PRE SEASON and see how it goes harden is instant offense but his defense needs a ton of work. he needs to dominate the ball to be effective with ISOs we may not need this when Howard is in so it would be interesting to see them split up mins have howard play more with Parsons/Lin and Harden play more with Asik and the 2nd unit as Asik is not much of a scorer. We can just ISO Harden all day long

He was engaging in a style of humor that requires presenting a horrific idea in as plausible a way as possible. He was not as skilled at it as Swift, but then few people are. One can object that the joke failed and wasted their time, but humor is such that what fails for one person can work for another. Swift was presenting the idea of eating surplus babies, and there were STILL people who took him seriously. I guess they would object that it wasted their time as well.
Many people just read the title of the thread. Our responses were meant to disabuse people of the stupid idea that Harden should come off from the bench. Writer didn't add something like " title ...(sarcasm)." Harden has already paid his dues being the 6th man for 3 years with OKC. He was willing to continue to be the 6th man on the condition that he get the salary he deserves or he be given a trade kicker. No way he agrees to a lower salary to play on a contender and then have his team trade him to a non-contender. If we lucked out on him, he also got lucky with HOU getting him, because we have a superstar GM and great organization. Morey's specialty just happens to be discovering underrated role players.
Whether Harden is a starter or a 6th man, he needs to stop going into ISO mode and trying to score on 3 defenders, especially when he has so much talent around him. That is not an efficient way to score. From watching the games, Dwight Howard is best at rolling to the basket on pick n' roll, Howard is NOT good at posting up, his low post moves are simple and easy to defend against. Harden is at his best playing OFF THE BALL, as a spot up shooter, pump faking and driving to the rim, or cutting through the lane. McHale does not run plays that maximize Harden and Howard's potential, instead letting them do what makes them happy and feel "special", instead of what works most efficiently. The problem is in the coaching, and the lack of team chemistry should not be blamed on Lin. Did you see the games where Harden refuses to pass the ball to a wide open Lin on the wing, instead waving him off to go ISO yet again? That shows that Harden does not buy into the team concept.
there is def merit to explore this and at least test it out in Pre Season harden is very similar to manu (scorer) versus a tony parker with dwight and parsons, team needs more of a facilitator running pick and roles playing w Asik, team will need a pure scorer
Right.... Just like there is merit to having LBJ, Kobe, Carmelo and KD coming off the bench in place of any average PG has merit. Your best player should always start!!
