He should have been paired up with Charles years ago.

like fierce warriors fighting to survive, bill has given his heart and soul for the game he loves. he has seen the high peaks, climbed out of darkness to reemerge in pure triumph.

    YES YES YES!

By far the greatest gift to mankind in the history of Mars.

I will watch a Pelicans vs Raptors pre-season game in its entirety if Bill Walton is calling it....

    ....three times...

....just to make sure I didnt miss any Waltonisms.

Doug Collins is trash. Goes off tangent while calling a game and is incredibly boring.

Bill Walton is a god among mere mortals. Perhaps the greatest commentator in the history of human language.

I like Collins as a color commentator because he drops some knowledge on the Xs and Os. But I don't want to see him in the studio--dude is boring as hell.

Walton, however, is the Barkley of color commentary. The guy is hilarious, has tons of stories, very strong opinions, will call players out, and has a way with language.

I had no idea so many actually value Walton as a commentator. I've always found him extremely annoying and on the short list of guys whose games I might just watch on mute if they are commentating.

This is nuts!! Seriously everyone I know that watches basketball hates Bill Walton! He makes no sense when he talks... I didn't realize so many people like him.

Doug Collins has forgotten more about basketball then you and I know combined! He's like Hubie Brown but not a thousand years old!

I love Hubie Brown, he is so insightful. Doug Collins on the other hand, puts me to sleep. Bill Walton is the NBA to me or what it represents. When I think of the NBA, I think of a laid back and extremely fun time. Bill Walton embodies that completely with his wacky comments and stories, but if you listen closely, he spews a ton of knowledge.

Just about every color commentator has forgotten more about basketball than the rest of us knows combined. This doesn't make you a good color commentator. The idea is how to share it in a way that's entertaining. Just because Walton's comments are exaggerated or veiled in sarcasm doesn't mean he's not pointing out stuff for casual viewers. But I'd rather hear the following rather than "Turkoglu is not really playing Evans like he is right handed."

"You might want to tell Hedo Turkoglu that Tyreke Evans is righthanded and will continue to be so throughout the rest of this game at least."

Last time he was in Houston, he was booed heavily. It was 2008, Rockets vs Jazz
    In the playoffs.
