99% of all sports writing is personality-less, really dumb and/or corporate banality. He took the novel idea to try to not make his writing those things. We can disagree to what degree he succeeds or not.
And Jonah Keri. For my money Lowe, Barnwell, and Keri are the best writers for their respective sports. There are a ton of other great writers on that site.
Bill Simmons, Stan Van Gundy, Jalen Rose, John Salley Good mix of knowledge, irreverent opinion, and entertainment value. JVG can maybe put in a word for his brother.
Lowe and Simmons are good, but the rest is mediocre. I don't understand their business model, how do they pay all those writers?

Andy Greenwald from Grantland isn't bad for television. I like Grantland, it's a nice place to find articles that cater to a diverse set of interests.
