Be grateful Schaub has a better oline and running game. Eli is trying to make plays.... Schaub throws 3 yards short of 1st downs AND gets the pass int'd. Theres literally no upside even if his Schaubs are completed.

I'd rather have Eli than Matt, even this year. I have more faith that he will turn it around than Matt. Plus, even despite his extra INTs he is avg more yards per game and per completion. Lastly, he has Superbowl experience.

I'm glad we're not hamstrung by a Flacco, Manning or Roethlisberger. They've all won Superbowls, sure - none of them are elite. But they're paid like it. Nothing worse than a good, not great QB who gets mammoth pay. Hard to win like that in this NFL.

If Schaub ever wins a Super Bowl I'm sure he'll be overpaid on his next contract also. It goes with the territory.

It does. It doesn't have to continue but the teams are put in a tight spot. This new rookie scale has added a new dynamic though. You have teams adding and retaining all kinds of pieces as they build around young, promising QB's that aren't getting paid much and wont be anytime soon.

If I was NYG and I had the first pick I'd take Bridgewater, cut Manning (assuming minimal cap hit) and move on with money to buy fancy new toys to surround my QB with.

Has it really come down to "at least we're not the worst!" as the Texans' rallying cry?

Eli has 2 Super Bowl rings.

Houston in the history of professional football, has zero.

No. It is just perspective. Things usually arent as bad or good as you think they are if you live in q vacuum.

I always hear Texans fans tell Cowboys fans to stop living in the past.

Those same fools talk about Dream when discussing the Mavs championship.

Agree, I'd let flacco walk rather than give him that contract. Only peyton, brady, rodgers, and brees deserve that kind of money. Shaub essentially is paid that way, this year is only $11 mill, next year is $14.5, 2015 is $17, 2016 is $19. But he won't ever see the rest of it....

Eli Manning signed a contract that averaged $15mil/yr with $35mil guaranteed.
Matt Schaub signed a contract that averaged $13mil/yr with $29mil guaranteed.
Ben Roethlisberger makes less than Matt Schaub.

Matt Schaub gets paid a lot closer to perceived elite QBs than people think.

Add in the fact that the bar for rookie QB performance is much higher. 2012 will be unmatched for a long time, but Smith Manuel and technically Pryor aren't doing bad either. Smith just had one of the most efficient games for a rookie QB ever.
The trend seems to be that incoming rookie QBs are more game ready, aided by the fact that coaches are more accommodating to adjusting their playbooks to their QB's strengths. The reloading/rebuilding process doesn't seem to be as daunting offensively as it used to be.

No matter how bad Eli sucks this year or beyond he still delivered 2 Super Bowl titles. Something Schaub will never do.

Yes that is why he won't get yank this year. Plus their backups aren't any good.
