    How was I obviously trolling for a reaction? We lost our veteran center insurance policy. Another veteran center is available. I expected a serious conversation along with a few gay jokes. Someone seemed to be flat out saying that they didn't want a gay player. I asked for clarification. How was I being hyper sensitive?

    Do you say that because he's gay and would cause issues with the players himself, or because the attention he would receive as the first openly gay player in a major sport would attract media attention that would be distracting?
    Or for some other reason?

    I say this... IMO Houston teams, not just the Rockets, have a habit of shying away from athletes who bring extra attention to themselves whether intentional or not (insert Tim Tebow). I think the team is collectively bought into a 'championship caliber season' mindset. I also believe that the Rockets will have enough distractions to worry about in the form of Dwight Howard being some what of a per-Madonna so in short, it would not be worth all the publicity for a third string at best, back up center/insurance policy...

    Collins mostly had a NBA job because he defended Dwight Howard surprisingly well in the post. So gay or not, we really don't have much use for him, I'd rather have Greg Smith.

    I'm not getting upset about the jokes. There are many fans that simply don't want gay players on their teams for whatever reasons (including the "distraction" element). I seriously didn't know if "No, he's gay" was a joke or not. I didn't say anything about the other jokes. Other posters did.
