He may be the better playmaker but he is a shoot first player, Lin's primary game is using his team mates as threats which opens up his own game.
Of course I'm speculating; I don't have the dollars or desire to poll test the question. But to claim no one cares seems to be going a bit far, considering all the people talking about it on this very forum.
I'm not sure about that. Harden's has lower assists, worse assist-t/o ratio, higher usage rate. Harden is a great playmaker for a shooting guard but the ball had a tendency to stop moving sometimes with him. His playmaking is overrated on this board. For example, he has to the "primary" ballhandler. The "point guard" should only be a spot-up shooter and plant himself at the three point line and he shouldn't practice mid-range shots, etc., etc. (probably someother guys said this one). I don't think there are many successful teams where the leading scorer also has the most assists - and that is what too many ppl on this board are clamoring for.
I'm not sure. I think he said that everyone cares about starting, but it depends on how he is used. I think it is still a tough feeling for anyone.
It is. If he's so superior to Lin shouldn't he have average more assist than Lin last year, especially when he handled the ball more than Lin did.
Weird how the guy whose first job was to score didn't average as many assists as the guy whose first job is to assist. Harden had the ball more, but scoring was still his main objective. His AST/TO ratio wasn't great, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The more minutes you play and time you have the ball the more turnovers you will have. So just because Harden fell into this category and on top of that is a score first not pass first option doesn't mean his passing skills are overrated.
Then he should concentrate on scoring and let Lin handle the ball to get him open looks. Ok next time people complain about Lin's TO when he plays a lot, I'll use your excuse for Harden.
If A trolls B and B thinks there is a controversy, and C doesn't think there is one, that just means C isn't aware of what's going on. Anyways, it was tried and Dwight tried to be Dream and it didn't work very well. Next game would probably be better.
Wow. Excuse? Or reality? Look at other superstars turnover per game numbers... They are all pretty high because of minutes played, time controlling the ball and defensive focus put on them. That said I will refrain from anymore back and forth with you. Some Lin fans you can have a legitimate discussion with some you can't. Keep on blindly following your boy.
I think the problem is people not admitting that being demoted from a starting position to a bench ("6th man role" is a nice euphemism for not good enough to start). It may or may not work out better for the team, that's what the pre-season is for to experiment. Spin it how you may, being a starter for 82 games, then losing that role to become the leagues "6th man" - even "for the sake of the team" - would still be a demotion in some people's eyes. It is disingenuous to suggest otherwise.
Not just one game. But prolonged demotions of a starter and relegation to a bench role might affect the confidence of a player. It suggests a lack of trust by the coach, and makes one question their abilities. It feels good to be a starter. "Who doesn't want to start?"
Good lord, it's only pre-season and the forum is already heated. I see nothing wrong with McHale experimenting the line up, now that the team is stacked. If it turns out that Beverley meshes better with 1st unit alongside Harden and Howard, whereas Lin is much more needed on 2nd unit, to make the team more formidable for deep playoff run, then I am all for it. Likewise, if Lin complements Harden and Howard better, then I don't see why McHale will not exploit the advantage.
I hope does get traded because this coach is ****. He won't thrive in houston so he should just ask morey to trade him now.
