As a couple others said...I would love to see Simmons, Rose, Collins, and Bill Walton. I'll watch a boring Washington State/Oregon State Pac 12 basketball game just because Bill Walton is announcing it. The guy reminded me during last years Pac 12 tourney just how much I miss him doing NBA games with Snapper Jones.

Again, Simmons is a idiot. Nobody watched ESPN halftime show anyway. If you respect the game of basketball, you'd know how stupid this move is. Not sure what idiot fan base ESPN's trying to appeal to

Yeah, Walton is hilarious but he's crazy, no offense. He'll never get on national television.
I think Simmons and Rose are great together, Stan van Gundy would be a nice add but I don't know who they could add to become as entertaining as TNT.

I don't care what's going on in basketball right now as much as I care what's going on on the court. Yes, I do believe Magic is qualified to talk about what's happening in the games that are being broadcast.

Agree. Well, except for the having Jalen part.

I just wish he'd 'make' (offer up) a few (dozen) fewer.

TNT Crew > ESPN Crew although I like Bill Simmons cause he tells it like it is for the most part, and Grantland is always a great read, but the chemistry that the TNT crew have with Chuck, Shaq, Ernie, Kenny, and Chris trumps ESPN on most levels

NBA TV has some good ones - Webber, Brent Barry, Anthony, Fratello, etc.

Not really sure how Jalen Rose has such a prominent role. Can't believe multiple people would actually want to see more, or any of SAS for that matter.

Steve Kerr is the black Magic Johnson. They're both equally boring. TNT should trade Kerr to ESPN.

I call BS on this Deadspin story. Bill constantly talks about how much he likes Magic and how much he's enjoyed working with him.

I do think the show will be MUCH better now. Doris Burke is really good at what she does. I'm excited for everyone, though I do wish they would replace Collins with a proper host (SVP!)

Like the addition of Doris and Magic was basically useless anyway. One thing I would LOVE is if Grantland Jalen is on the show instead of ESPN Jalen. He's gradually changing and bringing his alter-ego to Countdown, but too slow for my taste. Grantland Jalen is awesome and hilarious. ESPN Jalen is barely better than Magic.

Also, if they added a segment or two with Coach Nick from BballBreakdown analyzing plays, that would be amazing.

It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than Magic Johnson leaving to make NBA Countdown watchable. The show is dull as dirt and Magic was only one of the reasons why.

    Good news!

Agreed but not having Magic there should help since Jalen and Wilbon were constantly sucking up to him.

It's hard to value his opinions when he doesn't have any. Magic never says anything. Simmons is willing to stir the pot.

And while Simmons is a homer he knows the league well enough to talk about anybody. Watch his ongoing NBA preview with Jalen Rose. It's awesome.

Charles, Kenny, and EJ should do all the games.
