Learn from Lin's Christian faith: McHale's decision was Divine Will.

Lin is better than Bev playing with the starters AND the 2nd unit. Thing is, in terms of comparative advantage, he might add more value leading the 2nd unit than he would playing with the starters. Of course this is just preseason, and it's yet to be seen if this is true, but I understand Lin playing the 6th man if that is true.

Having said that, I still think Lin should start. While I'm sure Dwight will be fine, we don't know if he might be negatively affected by only having one playmaker in Harden, as opposed to two with Lin and Harden.

To me, I don't really care what his role is because him being the 6th man might be better for the team's success. I do think, however, that he is young and much improved and should still get 30+minutes a night no matter what his role.

This is preseason. No matter the game is on the line or not; both Lin/Beverley will be on the bench and Canaan will finish the game.

That lineup was working well because Lin was had the ball most of the time and was distributing; essentially, playing PG.

Strangely, the revelation I had watching this game was that Bev is just not a facilitating PG because I saw what these other guys can do with a PG like Lin. When Bev's out there without Harden or Lin, it's not a good look for the offense. He'll generate points off his defense and there's a lot of energy, but he's not a playmaker. Quite honestly, the only reason he's in the conversation for the starting lineup is that Harden's on the team and the offense is going to run through him anyway. He's like Chalmers with Lebron. Which is fine. It works.

Harden in OKC and Manu in SA always finished the games. Lin will have his chance to prove that he should, undoubtedly, be the one to finish the job. My intuition is telling me that McHale is going to give Bevereley that same opportunity.

I can see an ebb and flow going between these two young guards throughout the 82 game season. McHale will allow them to fight for it. The hungriest dog will get the meat.

Not so. Did you see the crowd? Mostly Chinese Pilipinos, the one minority group that controls the majority of the economy that could afford those tix. The average pilipino cannot afford those tix. The fans came to see Lin.

Believe it or not, but most of Lin's aren't Asian.

your analogy of Lebron and Chalmers to Harden and Beverley is spot on. Though Harden is no where near the play maker that Lebron is, they run their offenses through them. Chalmers just like Beverley, is a good on the ball defender.

how would you even know this? Did you do a survey? what was the sample size?

this is just silly, and quite honestly, inconsequential.

    bingo! great first post, dude.

also, the team as a whole does seem more balanced with lin leading the second unit.

Y'all don't know much about basketball...must be alot of people of Asian descent on the Lin bandwagon. I actually think Lin would be better as our 6th man! He can be Linsanity, hard to do it with our new starting cast with Harden and Howard needing the ball in their hands to be effective.

    He won't be a 6th man, he'll be a back-up if he's not the starter.

you do realize that a 6th man is considered a back up, don't you?

5 players can only be on the court, per team.

Yes, but a 6th man gets a lot of minutes, he will be a back-up PG like other back-ups.
