he got Hibbert in to foul trouble, he just opens up the lanes because Hibbert had to focus on Howard not getting free for dunks, Howard drew fouls on him as well. The starting line up today was great as a collective, that's all you can ask for.

 

8-8 was for free throws made-attempted. He was 3/6 for 50% in field goal percentage.

 

Game is showing at 11:30 am PST on NBA TV, so 1:30 pm central.

 

Do you think any of that matters to the coaching staff or front office?
They have their eyes on a bigger prize and have a limited time to prepare for it.
Do you really think they would compromised team development and player evaluation just to avoid a few questions about the rotation?

 

I still don't see why people would think 14/6/7 in 20 minutes is a bad thing.

 

2 games in a row where the starters have gotten us off to a good start

 

Wasn't really a clicking issue. Bev really wasn't asked to do much except play off the ball when he was in, which is fine when you have Dwight, Harden and Parsons as scoring options.

Similar to when Lin starts, Beverley spent most of his time dropping the ball off to Harden, Parsons and Dwight then would either cut or spot up shoot +- a few dribble drives to the basket. Beverley didn't do much drive and kick per se.

There definitely is an argument for Lin being on the floor with the 2nd unit. Lin's passing ability and ability to break down defenses definitely benefits the 2nd unit more versus having Bev play with the 2nd unit.

My only concern would be the minutes distribution, IE, McHale managing the minutes of Harden, Beverley and Lin's minutes wisely enough to both maximize our effectiveness as a team and NOT burn Harden and Parsons down with excessive minutes.

Similarly, another concern from last season is McHale being able to see when Harden is having a serious off night and recognizing that despite Harden being one of the stars that some nights it's smarter to have Lin run the offense even when Harden is on the floor.

Overall, we all had to see this move coming. Jeremy as a starter vs jeremy as a 6th man.

The point is, if you place ANY starter in the second unit. It does two things, it says "I'm losing confidence in you, you're not worthy of a starting position", secondly they dominate, by nature of them playing against inferior players.

Jeremy has established himself as a starting point guard.

I think McHale was not wise to try this line up in Manilla of all places, where hundreds of fans bought tickets with the intention of seeing Lin, not Beverly as a starter. It isn't the smartest of moves for his image. There are another 3-5 games to experiment with that lineup.

What todays game does demonstrate is that Lin can be 6th man of the year. He always could have been. But the rule is you start your 5 best players, and Lin is a starter.

If Lin does come off the bench, I expect a reduced role in minutes, and increased efficiency, but a low "stat line" : 12p/6a/5r. I tend to disagree with this move, but it is just one pre-season game.

Let's see how Lin responds in the next game.
