It'll only get worst if we lose Sampson as an assistant too. But I guess letting Mchale go before next season definitely won't happen cuz in the end this season was a success.
If Finch is the mastermind behind our offense (At the beginning of the season, Sampson said he ran the Defense and Finch ran the offense), shouldn't we be throwing some blame at Finch? Is this the system we're going to use next year?
They run set plays generally off timeouts, fouls, and randomly. I think many people confuse traditional system offenses with what the Roxs do. Our "system" is threes and inside the paint. While some folks on here mock its simplicity, it does have the advantage of being pretty efficient with our personnel and has the great bonus of being very easy to pick up by role players (delfino and bev easily stepped in and garcia stepped in the playoffs). Nah, I like the coaching staff and would dread losing Sampson (though it seems inevitable this offseason or next). You are correct that McHale isn't a championship coach, but I don't see us being a championship team at least for two years. If we can get a coach in the highest tier this offseason then fantastic, but I firmly believe we could survive another season with McHale.
I think McHale redeemed himself pretty well in these playoffs. He made adjustments. He was confident, gave his team confidence without pressuring them with overhigh expectations, shielded players from criticism. Once we get a post player, and the guys get more experienced, we can run more sets out of the post. And shore up our defense. These guys will keep working on their game in the summer, including James Harden.
If you don't understand the hate of LOF as your sig suggests, I advise you take a closer look at your complaint as the Rockets just blew out one of the best defensive teams in the NBA and looked absolutely amazing. You are putting a player above the team, and that is why people hate you and your kind. The change was a great one and McHale should be lauded for the move.
Mods need to lock this. If people want to start a new thread criticizing McHale, so be it, but this thread really shouldn't be continued.
i thought McHale did brilliantly this pre-season so far. With players of limited time able to contribute in all areas
The switch worked for this game. May or may not work the next. I'm glad he's doing this during the pre-season. I'm more glad that we won. A win is a win!
I'm sure there's a "Fire Gary Kubiak" thread in a Texans fan site that's been lingering for years. Same reason here as there. Sure the Texans win, but they are/were too talented be AFC also-rans. Come-on the Ravens won the AFC last year?! The Rockets have the most talented team since the Dream era (and arguably the Yao/Tmac era). You want the right guy leading the way. Not a guy who when asked the legitimate question of why Lin didn't start, give some dry, arrogant, sarcastic, one line answer as if he should be appalled that someone even ask that question. I'm not getting into the whole who's better, who should start, do this do that b/w Lin and Bev because both are good players and it's been debated on this board for awhile. But if a guy who has too big of an ego to not start Lin for 2 early preseason games in Asia (and it's more than a coincidence that the Rockets are in Asia and Lin happens to be on the team) so as to appreciate the growth of the game in over there, then you're wound up too tight. And you're also going to be the guy "drawing up" those awesome plays at the end of games like you did last year. Note: see Harden iso playbook. If this (flopping Bev and Lin during the trip) is such a big deal that it will affect the rest of your season, then you are a bad coach. McHale after the game 6 loss in the conference finals: "I blame this due to those 2 preseason games in Asia."
I think you wanted (someone) to do it, but didn't want to put your moniker next to it, so you wanted to remind some idiot to do it. You want to be that idiot, but you're not stupid enough to be 'the' idiot ...
