I hope it works, and Asik buys in, so his trade value will be higher. You have to figure that Morey got a ton of low ball offers after Dwight made his announcement.

I think there is almost no chance Asik is traded because they wouldn't be able to get anything even close to as valuable as Asik would be to the team. Maybe the Rockets keep making moves, but Asik is almost certain to stay.

I can't wait to see Dwight & Asik together on the court. I think they're going to complement each other rather well. Also with the personnel we have, we can go small ball with either of them.

Well, of course they're gonna give it a go, with Asik and Howard at the 5 and 4 (for, what? 12 minutes a game together?)

And we'll have to see how it goes. We all know that. Hopefully us doubters will be thrilled and it'll be even better than the Duncan-Splitter duo.

Thing is, it's Morey's m.o. to trade. UNLESS he thinks he can nab Kevin Love in July 2015, which mean putting Parsons' contract extension on ice and watching both he and Lin, maybe, ALSO walk for nothing (maybe even hand in hand, tra la la, but that's another story), along with Asik.

Asik's agent: "Nothing personal. Omer thinks he deserves to start. Please trade him."

And so Morey knows the big guy is unhappy and will likely walk at the end of his contract. Granted, that's down the road, but it's two years of harboring an unhappy player.

We do need more defense, obviously, and the Twin Tower approach would help on that end, but Omer and Dwight are so likely to thud into each other at the other end, I simply see Morey looking to find That Other Player and establish chemistry. Which might not happen very well this year if Asik is traded closer to the trade deadline.

So, fingers crossed, Omer-Dwight on D outranks Omer-Dwight on O (THUD!), whilst wondering if an evening-out of the roster is to come.

How do you know that Bobby. What if Morey is able to get LMA, you dont think that's close to value.

Never say never. or in your case ( wouldnt be able to get anything even close value)

Numbers don't add up. It'd have to be Lin + Asik, and Portland doesn't need a starting PG or a 15 million backup PG. LMA or Love ain't gonna happen.

I do believe it can work but it takes a creative basketball mind to bring it together. We forget that these coaches and staff have been doing this for a very long time. I trust that our coaching staff can get all they can from the two true centers.Spacing may be the only issue and honestly that is something you can dictate and control with practice.

Most posters that say it will not work have not coached at any true competitve level much less even coach a little leaugue team so they are speaking blindly..IMO

But with all that said , Asik will more than likely be traded to ATL for Horford or Milsap....I dont think ATL wants to continue to play two PFs again after they let Smith walk. It makes sense for both teams.Id prefer Horford tho...its just a matter of time.

We want it to work. I'd have less doubt if Asik were a better passer; but, again, let's hide and watch.

Well I'd argue that there is almost no chance that the Rockets could trade Asik for LMA so it would fit right in with my previous statement.

Sure if the Rockets can trade Asik for LMA or Lebron James, they'll do that, but those trades aren't happening.

But our 2nd-team defense would be intensely bad with no Asik and Brooks at the point.

Hate to say it, but Dwight wasn't so healthy last season. . . .

Try to guess who was the least efficient scorer in that picture.

Not worth it. LMA is incredibly overrated.

I'd have to venture an educated guess that as a top 10 center, Omer does in fact have that kind of value, but as a contender looking to be"great", we go after a stud vet like LMAIn addition to the mad talent his game is a perfect fit.,

The same thing just happened with my beloved Liverpool FC. They all said Sturridge and Suarez can't work, but now they're the best duo in the EPL.

    Homer Dwasik will work.

Unless that 5-10 guy is Michael Adams or Dana Barros, I'm going with the 27 year old center.

Amen. Last year we all saw Asik and Smith be very effective for stretches and that seems insane on paper. Dwight is an obscenely rich man's Greg Smith. I can picture it working. Just have to wait and see.

If we can turn their defense and rebounding into fastbreaks like last year, it will work.

I can see us releasing on opponents shots much earlier than conceivable and just killing it.

Now this post seems a little a-holeish. You're making it seem like everyone's just BSing for no reason.

If you are correct, and no one truly tried or knows, then it doesn't speak well for Thibs or SVG, both regarded as premier coaches. Thibs NEVER tried to put Asik and Noah together, this despite the fact that he put Asik in during crunch time numerous times over Noah. SVG tried to play Gortat and Howard together. And it failed. Orlando showed that they were much more successful with random undersized non-PF at that position over a superior center.

It's obvious that the Rockets are trying this because of the gap between Asik's talent vs. any other potential player we can play at PF. And because Asik apparently want minutes. Not because they truly want to be innovative.

And if they succeed in making twin towers work, then McHale deserves to be Coach of the Year because he will have succeeded where other great coaches failed.
