I don't want to get into because I've gone over this before, including addressing your point about previous generations of immigrants.

    1. The immigration waves you are referring to happened before we implemented government aid. The fact we have social security, welfare, affordable healthcare, food stamps, and other programs changes everything.

    2. Immigrants filled up jobs that simply don't exist anymore. There is no longer enough work to go around. The circumstances that gave up a post WW2 boom economy will (hopefully) never repeat.

    3. More jobs are being computerized which means fewer white collar jobs in the future.

    4. Outsourcing means fewer and fewer jobs are safe.

I'm not sure what you meant about libertarians? Part of their ideology is worshiping the cult of the immigrant. Part of their ideology is the fanatical hatred of any social safety net. Rand Paul would happily import 100 million poor immigrants tomorrow if he could, because that would bankrupt any and all social programs and provide an army of union busting cheap labor. A win win for libertarian fanatics.

Lastly, everyone is related to someone. An immigration policy that allows people to import family members (even Uncles and Aunts) is effectively an immigration policy that allows everyone in the world to gain citizenship.

I say all of this with no hatred of 3rd world immigrants. I've been living in ground zero of Latino immigration for years and have no qualms with a people who seem hard working and family oriented, but if the jobs are dwindling, yet the social programs remain, we will need to get serious about addressing America's rising population.

America can have a surging population or we can have the necessary social programs that are expected of a first world country, but I don't see how we can have both, not even if we reverse tax cuts for the rich, crack down on corporate welfare, scale back our military, and legalize and tax prostitution and pot.

What I think is going to happen is that immigrants will continue pouring in, jobs will continue drying up (computerization, outsourcing), which will put even more strain on our ability to retain a sizable middle class.

what i dont get is why these hooligan democrats think its ok to shut down first street to protest and people like pelosi applaud their dedication to a movement

    yet

republicans are taking the government hostage by shutting that down

seems like both sides can shut down what they want when they want

why the hypocrisy? O bc it's racist when republicans do it, but it is called freedom fighting when liberals do it

so it's ok that people like my parents pay almost $1,900/month for their blue cross blue shield coverage just bc they can afford it but at the same time some poor people who aren't going to pay their bills can get the same treatment??? Well WTF my parents are getting hosed, why should they pay $1,900/month, they're really the suckers paying $24,000 a year for insurance if we all get the same treatment from the same doctors.

They pay $24,000/year bc my dad is 63 and my mom isn't far behind but they also pay so they can get the best service without having to wait in line with every joe schmo. What is the purpose of rich people paying premiums if they're just gonna share the same health care providers with everyone????

Nobody cares what you have to say eddie. You're literally the most bigoted, ignorant, morally bankrupt poster this forum has ever seen. Congratulations.

morally bankrupt? I'm sorry I don't see why we have to pay more to support people who do nothing for me or my family. Life is about give and take, the rich give and give and give and what do we get in return from the bottom 75% of society? A big tax increase constantly bc they can't manage to handle life on their own.

It's ridiculous not one of my friends from high school is a government mooch, every single close buddy of mine, all 8 of them top $125K today and all are under 30. It's utterly ridiculous the garbage public schools are pumping out. People who can't point to iraq on a map or can't explain the debt ceiling. It's a waste of time and taxpayer money it seems bc they just end up on the government dime for life......but wait isn't that the goal of the democratic party? Keep people oppressed to stay in power?

Your parents are clearly weak links to be charged so much. They should be culled in order to lower the rest of our premiums.

No dude he is super loaded. All of the acknowledgment of his success in the real world from peers wasn't enough so he needs to justify himself to people on a message board. Oh wait that doesn't make much sense at all.

Stop engaging the idiot. The only thing that happens when you argue with a stupid person is they bring you down to their level.

I think the real murderers here are the insurance companies and the people that represent them; whether they are house members or CEO's or whatever. To me, they are they are the ones hiding in the bushes starting fires for everyone. IMO, they should have more of a dedication to the people versuses the business aspect of their company. Afterall, people shouldn't be dropped for getting cancer or not covered because of a Pre-existing. Just the mere fact that the ACA is getting rid of those two qualifications is enough for me to vote for it. As my friend put it on FB -

"Reading about fraud in state government, intentionally misleading statements about the affordable care act, and the posts of all my friends who are on furlough for no good reason I can see. It's hard to feel content when I see so many people who don't want to care about anyone other than themselves. Compassion is a virtue, not a weakness, and we need more of it in this world. And not just for our friends, but for those we don't know or understand as well."

You are just a fuc**** piece of American **** that got everything handed to you on a silver platter and you were born with a spoon in your mouth. You will never know what it is like to struggle. So you talk your bs because you can hide behind a computer screen. So go drive off in your damn Ferrari while some of us have no means to get around. You sir, are a dumbass. Just saying what everyone is thinking. All you do is subtlety brag about what you have.

They're not suckers blue cross has spent off the top of my head

$270,000 for one extended ICU visit
$58,000 for a carpal tunnel surgery

so $1900/month is a drop in the bucket when you own a ton of businesses and your wife have 3 private clinics. Especially when you factor in not having insurance and having to wait in line with all the illegals at a free clinic if SHTF. My mom told me how she took our maid to the free clinic bc her husband had something happen, she said it was sad how there were 100+ people waiting.

So $1900/month to guarantee your life is saved is nothing. That is pretty much the going rate for private insurance for a self employed 63 year old man and his wife. Neither has health issues, just a big one time scare a few years back.

I personally don't know what it's like to struggle, but my parents do, and both think the poor in america are a sad group who just want handouts, they loathe the poor who say they can't make bc both of them came from as tupac would say "the gutter"....the slums of india are a much harder place to make it from than the streets of houston lol. Give me a break. My mom worked her butt off to be the best student so she could get a free ride to college, my dad worked like a slave, 2 jobs combined with his brother working 2 jobs so they could open their first small business.......so when they hear poor people complain, they just say that they're not smart enough or they're too lazy and not trying hard enough.
