    This.

Also for fast breaks we need stops, rebounds. Also I remember the many, MANY instances last year when we had 15-20 pts leads that got wiped away in a single run. I'd put those 2 in when we're ahead. Also as far as the regular season goes, there are just so many teams year that are bad defensively, or have big front courts like memphis where you need both big men. Mchale should rest Howard once in a while when he can... keep his minutes down. If healthy Omer's going to easily average over 25+ mins a game this season.

Nice post except this. I was thinking the opposite. Imagine Lin dribble penetrate and have Asik and D12 both waiting for the scoop pass or lob? How about PnR with one and then scoop pass or lob to the other? That's very hard to stop, the only way is fouling.

This is right. You can't dare guys like Randolph (for example) to shoot from outside. He'll keep making it.

I hope it works only because I'd like to keep Asik happy in a Rox jersey, but, if it doesn't work out, you have to go with what's best for the team.

Only a handful of stretch 4s could create big problem for Dwight, like Dirk, Love, Bargnani and I dunno who that are light out shooters. It's a rare problem. During those games we could easily play the twin towers less.

It will be dog fight. The Carmelos, LeBrons and Durants don't really want to be dealing with Dwight or Asik. It will be interesting. Again, if we're losing the fight we could easily play the twin towers less.

Which is why we could not beat Utah in the playoffs with Tmac and Yao. Only theirs was a stretch 5.

People act like having to big men in the same lineup is a mind blowing concept that can't work. Throughout the history of the nba, there have been plenty of c/non shooting PF and there was still enough penetration for anyone that wanted to penetrate. Both asik and Dwight can guard the perimeter very well, good feet, and both are good passers.

the only concern would be the three point shot. But if carmen wants to shoot 30 threes, so be it. That means his other teammates are not involved.
Asik for 30 minutes is going to be awesome!

I hope Asik is with us in November. He is a great asset and he has a great presence on the floor. It would be a great loss if he gets traded. However, Omer definately will push to be traded if he does not get the minutes.

I think the offense is going to be ugly, but I am a huge Asik fan. The defense will be tough. I'm iffy on how well it will work, but it does have a chance to be devastating.

I would think it will only be 8-10 minutes at least but with the Memphis', Indiana's, and Brooklyn's of the league the combo will get more run

Well, the problem is the spacing. It may work, but they need to execute the spacing and body positioning down to the inches. What you don't want is Lin bumping into Omer, or he and Omer being so close that Omer's man can guard them both or/and disrupt the pass hand-off.

It doesnt matter that they are not PFs, who says you have to even have anybody play the 4 like it's normally played... Casspi, Parsons and Garcia are not PFs either but we have put them out there. All that really matters is that you have two guards, a wing and a big man, the other spot is interchangeable. You could run another guard out there, another wing or another big man.

Bottom line is people get to caught up in the names of the positions, you need five good players, that's it!

I've heard the 2014 Asik is equipped with SkyActiv technology that makes this feasible, on the highway.

Agreed with everything you just stated. Mchale has to realize this is not the 80"s or early 90's anymore.

Some of yall are really painting a perfect pretty picture. IMO that sh** will not work. Like some have mentioned one or both will have to develop a legit 10-15ft jumper. Think about it for a minute, both players will not be in the paint. When Howard post up, Asik will more n likely be around the freethrow like. Teams will double down but give Asik that open shot. I dare you to take it.
On the defensive side, well of course the rim will be protected. But again one of them will be pulled out the paint. Chris Bosh, LMA, K Love, P. Milsap, M. Gasol, P Gasol, A Jefferson and several other PF will have a field day against this line up. They can shot that 10-15ft jumper.

I'm pretty sure they upgraded Asik's software to IOS 7 which includes a more accurate outside shot from about 15 feet. Nothing to worry about!

Seriously. Read HP's posts in this thread. I think he says it all and I'm definitely buying in to the Howard/Asik front court.

We need that guy Jinno to come work in Houston. He got Omer to say more than I've ever heard him, and he got McHale to tone down the sarcasm. Bravo Jinno!

Yeah... No. Modern 4s, in the Ryan Anderson mold, can easily destroy us from the outside. You don't want Dirk, Ilyasova or Kevin Love taking uncontested 3s... That would be a total disaster.
