I think McHale should give Bev a few "trial" starts towards the end of the preseason

This whole situation reminds of when people were debating about brooks and lowry back in the days.

Clutchfans always argue about the same stuff -___-
Just appreciate the rockets as a team man.

jeremy lin says himself that him and beverly just want to win and do whatever it takes to win... no more threads about who starts or who is with the 2nd unit! they'll be fine.

yes Harden is the best player. lin is the best passer. you can't have Harden playing 40+ minutes and have him do everything. he will be exhausted.

I dunno if we were looking at the same video but I thought I saw Bev, Dwight and Harden on one team, Lin, Parsons and TJ on the other.

I think wiseguyX might be talking about the scrimmage video from Play07's thread featuring the team's scrimmage in Philippines.

I really hope you are not basing this off of 1 preseason game. And I know you know basketball as well. So pimp pick n roll will be ran thru several different combinations.

    Harden/Howard PNR
    Lin /Howard PNR
    Harden/Asik PNR
    Lin/Asik PNR
    Parson/Howard PNR
    Parson/Asik PNR
    etc etc

Nothing new about that, simple basketball 101

That is not up in the air. The only position that's not set in stones is the PF position.

Lin is the better floor general, better facilitator. This has nothing to do with dudes pay either.

In that vid that was post some days ago, it had Lin and Parsons on the same team. Its not no coincidence, its just practice mayne,,in my AI voice.

Yes, possibly. Well, let's hope it's just something they do in practice, switch things up sometimes. It'd be interesting to see if Lin could turn the second unit into Jeffries, Harrelson, Novak and Fields!

I'm not sure why some of you insist on making Lin sound like the biggest wuss in the league. I can only assume it is an unexpected byproduct of your compulsion to defend him at all costs.
However, Lin is a big boy and I don't believe he is as mentally weak or emotionally fragile as you make him out to be.
His path to where he is today required a certain amount of toughness and determination. I don't think that happened by accident.
To suggest that he needs coddling is disrespectful.

Funny, hasn't the same thing been said of Lin..and Lowry before him, and Brooks before him?

What you call hate, I call healthy debate....and somewhat a Rockets tradition.

Competition is a good thing, and can only make the team better. Having two capable point guards is a win/win situation for the Rockets. Now it's just a matter of determining which player in which role will be most beneficial for the TEAM.
This team is too new, too talented, and has too much potential for any option to be taken off the table.

    Apples to oranges.

By the time Lowry became the starter, T-Mac had been traded away, and Yao was on the cusp of retiring. Meaning, Lowry had to carry the load on offense. Hence the dramatic drop in his defensive effort.

Bev's hypothetical starting role wouldn't be a similar change in job description with Harden and Dwight shouldering the offensive burden.

And don't forget Dragic vs. Lowry! We have really been churning out the PGs!

They are nothing the same IMO... AB was a one trick pony who could not defend at all, was a poor passer, a poor penetrator, and hopelessly undersized. The only thing he could literally do was shoot the ball. That and he was really quick, though his speed was useless unless his shot was falling since he sucked at driving to the basket. When he didn't have that going for him, he was a complete scrub. Lowry on the other hand, while not much bigger, had a lot more bulk and strength, was a MUCH better defender, pretty solid shooter, MUCH better passer, MUCH MUCH better penetrator. There was never any contest, just a few fans that were seduced by AB's deceptive 20/5 stat line, never mind that it came with 0 defense and as less than a 2:1 assist turnover ratio and his playoffs performance against much older and slower opposing PG's.

he won't cause he'll be sharing the bulk of those possessions with Howard. You do realize that Dwight is going to have the ball in his hands almost as much as Harden, don't you?

The team is going to play around their 2 all star players, this isn't a Mike D'antoni system where everyone is going to have the green light at all times.

McHale's words suggest otherwise. And Lin still has a lot to prove to show that he's worthy of that starting position.

Beverely is still a young player as well, and hungry as heck. Let's let the player who deserves it, earn it.

I'm not a big McHale fan, but this is one of the things i do like about his coaching decisions.

with that said, every player wants to start. especially these young guys who want the most playing time so they can improve their games.

They're like fruit, and playing time makes them ripe.
