plenty of revenue to pay debt interest, which avoids default

it's nice to see you so worried, and nervous for Wall Street, and bondholders' sake.

the irony is, your benefits, and a whole bunch else will be shut down for the average American.

but somehow, kowtowing to large corporations and China always comes first, I suppose.

the situation you're espousing is ruin for the average American, and has a far higher chance of turning America into Greece, then anything you ever purport would (though the comparison itself is always fraught with peril)

Or return to Clinton era budget votes (when the debt ceiling raises were voted in tandem with the budget/CR - no thanks to Republicans who decided to turn it into 2 separate votes after the Republican takeover of the House and Senate in the 90s)

You know what is ironic about this... if that was Obama's birth certificate, they would call it a fake. :)

And of course, this was a symbolic vote when passage of the debt ceiling increase was assured and the threat of default was never even remotely possible.

Obama - nor the Democratic party, for all of its many faults - would never be that irresponsible.

But in the new age of the Republican party - you just threaten default every 6 months when you can't win at the ballot box - it's the new normal.

If the US defaults on its debt that will hurt China pretty badly since the Chinese hold a lot of US debt.
