    you don't know that.

    they have used legislative means

Don't need funding to make abortions illegal so that is impossible also I am all for it. I would love it if Congress woudln't raise the debt ceiling. Most of what Republicans desire doesn't require funding (military would be the main one). If Democrats wanted to deny funding to the military they should and get voted out next election cycle.

You forgot about the qualifier he used which was 'legitimate'.

The phrase "power of the purse" typically doesn't refer to threatening a default.

Like every post you've made, you're ignoring the point. Would it be ok for a Democratic minority to refuse to fund the government or raise the debt ceiling if a pet policy of theirs was not passed as well?

I know what legislative means. I used the word. Is it legitimately legislative for them to refuse to go to conference committee 18 times before this? Is it legitimately-legislative for them to establish a precedent that, no matter ruling party, will cripple our government in the future if legitimized?

And the ones who were voted in specifically in 2012 against Obamacare should be doing their jobs and trying to fix the problems they see in the legislation, through the legislative process.

Holy hell you're obtuse. There is a majority who will pass the clean CR, Republicans and Democrats. See: Washington Post running count of Republican representatives. The people you steadfastly back are not the majority.

There is the never-stated heart of the matter. You favor more of a minority-rules-or-nihilism approach that, to be fair, the Tea Party has preached since day one. We've all recognized that it's self-defeatist to elect people to a government who don't believe in the idea of government. What we've been frustrated by is why you just don't come out and say it. It's one thing to argue against government in society, but it's another to wrap a WWII veteran in your arms, bemoan that he can't visit a memorial in his honor and then turnaround and tell the Washington Post that "It's exactly what we wanted and we got it."

So, you don't care if our system of government is now thrust into a perpetual, needless cycle of paralytic gamesmanship. You've got a nihilist streak to you.

Ted Cruz: Destroying Entire Planet Best Way to Stop Obamacare

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) raised the ante in the battle over the Affordable Care Act on Sunday, telling CNN’s Candy Crowley that “destroying the entire planet is really the best and only way to stop Obamacare.”

“Look, I’m in favor of shutting down the government and not raising the debt ceiling, but let’s not kid ourselves. Those are only half measures,” he told Crowley. “If we are really serious about stopping Obamacare, we’ll destroy the entire planet.”

Explaining his proposal to a visibly alarmed Crowley, Senator Cruz said, “Obamacare is like a parasite that needs a host to feed on. If you want to kill the parasite you kill the host, and in this case that means killing this planet. As long as there’s a planet Earth, the nightmare of Obamacare could always come screaming back to life.”

While he was not specific about how he would go about destroying the planet, Cruz said, “This is something that my colleagues and I have been working on for some time.”

The Texas senator refused to speculate on whether there were enough votes in Congress to support his proposal of obliterating Earth, but he ended his interview on a personal note: “Candy, I don’t want my children and my children’s children to live in a world with Obamacare. And the best way to guarantee that is by destroying the world.”

Linked marked at work as "malicious". Not sure if srs.

People are focusing way too much on the personalities. At this point, who cares which inmate is saying what in the asylum. Best way to destroy ACA is to make any sickness whatsoever (along with double parking) a crime punishable by death. Just think of all the problems it would solve. Over-population. Environmental protection. World hunger. Medical expenses. Retirement funding. Etc. Etc. It's eugenics and predestination all wrapped up with a neat little bow on top.

It's so brilliant, I think I deserve Nobel Prizes in Peace and Medicine.

Well, it is a satirical blog at the New Yorker, so I would say not malicious unless you fear bad comedy.
