Definitely not too soon for another Schaub thread.

Schaub will remain the starter for this reason: Kubiak doesn't believe Yates or Keenum can get the Texans to the playoffs if he benches Schaub. And while it's sad, I have to agree. Obviously, Bad Schaub won't get us there either, but a return to Good Schaub might. The Texans think that getting Schaub's head straight is their only chance at the postseason and that's why they're going to stick with them. So there won't be a change at QB mid-season until the Texans are officially out of it. Then we might see more of the backups.

However, hopefully the Texans now realize that attempting to ride Schaub to a Super Bowl is a futile effort. The window for this team with Schaub as QB has closed and they need to pursue other options. The Texans have always been slow on the trigger when making necessary moves.

So, Schaub's time isn't over RIGHT NOW. But would be hard going into next season with him as the starting QB. Of course, his contract might be an issue. There have been conflicting reports of how much we'd actually owe Schaub if we decided to cut him and that could affect things.

SAS (Yes Stephen A Smith...) actually made a pretty solid point about it comparison wise.

He said that what's happening now remind him of Jake Delhomme, who wasn't ever really a elite QB or anything but you thought he was good enough to win a superbowl with (and he almost was) and then he threw 5 picks in a playoff game and he was never the same afterwards. Mentally Schaub could be shot.

Always trying to 'Prove' himself, trying to fit passes into windows he can't. Trying to do more than he's asked to do to redeem himself.

I think the Texans plan will be to hopefully get some confidence going against the Rams, get that winning feeling back throughout the team and that Matt just gives us the best chance at that. Not sure what to expect with Yates and especially Keenum.

Bad Shaub might be a blessing for the future of this team.

He may become "good" Shaub again and get the team to a road wildcard loss.

I'd rather have them tank and get a better draft choice and draft their future QB while they still have the likes of Johnson, Foster, Watt, Cushing, Brown, and even Hopkin...etc.....

This Shaub experiment has got to stop.

Why would we want to even go to the playoffs with Schaub as the QB? It will be the same result. bounced as soon as we play someone good. Schaub has to go. The sooner the better.

I am waiting for someone smarter than me to take that article and point out why it is BS? Really... maybe something more than the "number aren't everything" argument?

I'm not a data geek... but geez, does that article tell you everything you need to know or what? I mean holy moly... the dude has a sizeable lead over other QBs at throwing the worst of the worst interceptions... while simultaneously rarely every makes huge plays to help win games.

Average, average, average, average, average. This year, clearly below average.

But wow. I mean the Texans philosophy, even thought they clearly won't admit it publicly, HAS to be try and have a killer killer defense and hope Schaub can be slightly above average, even against the best of the best, to win a SB. Which is a horrible strategy to have.

Yes... definitely, yes. JJ Watt might keep them in enough games, though.

Is spelling his name correctly that difficult? If you're gonna criticize him, at least know how to spell it right.

Seems like every thread has a bunch of posters that get it wrong and not in typo fashion.

I suspect a 'phantom' injury or something that allows him to goto the bench without being benched is coming.

    The #8 is bad luck...

They need to ban anyone going forward from wearing that number.

    So yes....it needs to go.

I don't buy that a backup doesn't give us a better shot at winning.

Kubiak's system doesn't require a huge skillet from the quarterback. I feel like a quarterback is somewhat interchangeable, similar to the running back in this offense. The throws required from Schaub are not difficult, they are quick, simple short passes for the most part. I feel like tj or case can adequately make a few throws a game and we could run more.
