Unfortunately though in the NFL, potential isn't always so consistent. I don't care if it's his first or 2nd year. I'm not putting much into potential in the NFL, I never really do. Seen too many guys break out have a good few years and then sort of fall to the medium. He's not elite until he's proven he's consistently elite is all I'm saying. All I'm saying is he have to prove it, not sure what's so wrong with that. If yall want to crown him and compare him to all-time greats like Manning and Brees, have at it.
Umm who in here is comparing him to them? Fact is he is playing like an elite through his first two years that is with an average o-line and no run game.
I am disgusted by the Giants. This is sad for their franchise. Congrats to the Chiefs and their great fans. It must be awesome to be 5-0 and favored to win the next 4 games before the showdown in Denver. If the downpours didn't start at the exact wrong time, I think the Pats would have driven the field and sent the game into OT. But finally, they lose. It made me laugh when the rain basically stopped when the ball was turned over on downs. Gotta hand it to the Colts. Luck does what he has to do for them to win. This won't be popular on the forum but if the Texans, falter, I wish them the best. I still say giving up a #1 for Trent Richardson was a mistake.
What has he not proven in his first 1.5 years? He can run an offense. He can lead a team to the playoffs. And now he's leading a team that is on its way to winning the divison. He's doing everything you can do.
No, he's not playing like an elite QB in his first two years, he's put up great stats for a rookie QB but it's nothing compared to what Brees, Manning, Brady, Rogers have done. In fact, you could argue that Matt Schaub had a better year than him last year, and I know no one is considering him Elite.
Which is all very good, no one is arguing that he's not a very good QB...but he's not doing anything that other very good QBs haven't done either.
Luck dismantled the Seahawks offense after spotting them 12 points without much of a running game for 80% of the game. Maybe Seattle at home. He will face KC twice this year so you will get to see that. .
What does his rookie season have to do with it? Some guys start off great and remain great. Some guys do not. Some guys struggle early and turn it around. Some guys struggle and never turn it around. I'm judging right now as the NFL is a very right now league. Andy Dalton also had a good rookie season and led his team to the playoffs his rookie year. Mark Sanchez also did the very same things you mentioned early in his career. They thought that was their franchise QB...well things change. It really doesn't matter right now though, Luck is better than those two were when they did it and he's better than Dalton. But he's a WAYS to go to get into that other class of QBs that Rogers, Manning, Brees, and Brady is in. That's alright, that's not a insult to him. It's just a testament to how great those other guys are. (Brady/Manning may go down as some of GOAT...) Just like Harden has a ways to go to get into that same class as Lebron, Durant, CP3...it's not a slight against the guy. He's just not proven it yet.
