I thought they played great. They didn't run many pick and roll plays or anything like that. It was mostly just inside-out ball movement.

That's just basic basketball, and they made it look easy.

The back-ups didn't play as well (understandably), because how often is McHale going to play a line-up with no starters on the floor? I'm thinking.... never.

So it's hard to see how the different back-up players can play with the starters. We didn't get a look at different line-ups, especially with players like Asik and Garcia not playing.

So I'm still interested to see how those guys can play.

But as far as the starters are concerned, I liked what I saw. I really liked what I saw.

They looked pretty good, but I can't get too excited based on a preseason game against the Pelicans.

Chandler looks like he's recommitting himself to being the consummate glue guy of this team, which I like.

Howard and Harden will foul out a lot of players this season.

Howard isn't the only one that has to work on his foul shooting. We'll be in the bonus a lot this season and those extra points from the line will make a difference at the end of a game.

    I was impressed with 4/5.

Howard and Harden played like the stars they were.

Parsons was always in the right place playing off the stars.

A couple bad passes aside Lin looked very good running the offense, making plays and controlling the tempo.

DMo didn't impress me at all. I can't wait to see Jones or Asik get their turns to start.

When it's all said and done I think TJ gets the nod and all 5 will be very good together.

Really impressed with the starting 5. I like how they are using the time to try to figure out how to feed the post. They move Dwight too much out of position on their passes but hey, it's only the first pre-season game and I am sure that will get ironed out. Passing to the post is one of the hardest things to do after-all, it involves every single person on the floor to do their part.

My hope in this seasons line up. No single minute where either howard or asik and harden or lin is not on the floor. A full game with a defensive big and a playmaking guard is making me high. I wish McHale will humor me this season.

The fantastic four are just that.

Dwight changes everything. Perhaps the most impactful player in the game when healthy.

I thought all of then played well. Including dmo. I thought his defense was MUCH better and he looked stronger since last year. He spent a good portion of his time guarding Davis and I didn't think he looked terrible doing it. He was active and his long frame and quick feet along with Dwight is a good deterrent to teams getting in the lane. I really don't care who starts out of TJ and dmo, but whoever is playing the best on a given night should get the minutes. If neither is playing well, go with smith or go small...

It's not that Lin needs to throw them better. There is understandably a lack of chemistry between him and Dwight, since they haven't played much together. With more familiarity, those alley-oops will connect. Last season, there was only one person (Parsons) who could actually finish them somewhat consistently, but even then, they weren't a large part of the offense.

I'm pretty comfortable with this 9/10 man rotation:

    Dwight -starting C
    T.Jones - starting PF
    Parsons - starting SF
    Harden - starting SG
Lin - 6th man or starting PG
Beverley - starting PG or backup PG
    Asik - backup C
    Garcia - backup SF/SG
Casspi or D-Mo - backup PF
    Brewer - situational/backup SF/SG

Definitely. All those fouls on Howard with the way some of our guys attack the bucket, it's going to be big.

D-Mo looked frustrated, like he was trying too hard. Too many fouls too soon. I hope he gets enough starts to settle in, so we can see if he can adapt to getting significant floor time. If not, then TJ definitely looks like he'll get the start. I wouldn't be surprised to see Casspi show up at the PF position for a game or two.

Lin looked alright, but I'm more impressed with Beverley right now. We'll see how that goes, but I loved Beverley's defense.

Howard and Harden were great, as expected. Parsons is really the sort of player who improves a team's chances when he's on the court - can do a lot of things pretty well.

It's still early, but after this first game the only change I anticipate is D-Mo becoming the 2nd or 3rd string PF.

I am not sure Aldridge would come to Houston to play the fifth option on offense.

Whomever the Rockets put in the 4 spot should be fine as the fifth option on the offense. Defense at the 4 spot might be what determines who gets PT.

I think you can be assured that will be granted. Except when the game has turned into a laugher.
