well, I am ok for now. I am envious of Valanciunas of the Raps who seems to be more ready in this league than Donuts. lol yeah I was like WTF how can he brick hook shots from striking distance? six feet away.

Yup. Dmo's problems seem to be mental. Hope Mchale keeps throwing PT at him this Preseason and he can snap out of it.

Starters don't play so many minutes in the preseason, and

    Jason Friedman:

Forget about the final score; Houston’s starters dominated nearly every minute they were on the floor

I'm sure DMo was nervous tonight, the same way Jones was nervous when he kept banking three pointers.

    ???

    Parsons: 4-5, 11 pts in 27 min.
    Lin: 4-7, 11 pts in 19 min.
    DHo: 6-11, 19 pts in 27 min.
    Harden: 6-11, 21 pts in 28 min.

The top 4 starters scored a total of 62 pts in limited action, and played beautifully together. None of them were lacking shot opportunities.

The rockets play at a fast pace and I doubt touches and attempts will be an issue, assuming the team continues to play at a high pace, which is a foregone conclusion at this point.

Adding a fifth scorer would not be a problem, IMO. The top 4 have practiced together extensively over the summer, are all healthy and are in a near-optimal situation: extraordinary potential with very little pressure.

Again, this would only be the case with an offense which constantly milks the clock and plays at a much slower pace than the rockets will be.

You can't ever afford to turn down premium talent in this league, when the opportunity arises for such an acquisition.

---I know a lot of guys are attached to dmo and tj and asik. They're all terrific bigs. But there is no way morey would turn down an opportunity to sign lma or klove and would trade any or all of those 3 aforementioned in order to do so. It's just common sense.

Wonder how well D-Mo shoots 3s in practice. We hear about him being a stretch 4 over and over but he hasn't shown he can hit them consistently at all. He doesn't deserve the title of a stretch 4. I don't know what to label him.

Not an issue. Both will be seeing extensive minutes during the preseason and they'll both have every chance to impress the coaching staff. During games and during practices as well.

Having seen scrimmage footage and game footage of tj, I have to say I'm less impressed than I was hoping to be. I thought he'd be a throwback PF, along the lines of horace grant: a talented but hardworking and unselfish role player who would be a great complementary piece. Instead, he seems to be taking it upon himself to try to shoot and score at every turn.

I love dmo's athleticism, but I don't know what his position is: he has the athleticism of a 3, but doesn't seem to have the defensive toughness of a traditional center or 4.

Again, these are very early impressions and both will see a lot of minutes and have a chance to start. Perhaps both will. Or, maybe both will see lots of minutes along with asik?

Last year they said that DMo shot very well in practice. I really wish they would leave him as the starter unless we pick up a better pf. I would think that it would help him play better than anything, it would give him confidence and he would become used to playing with the starters. Jones would do well with the second unit where he's not taking shots away from Harden and Howard.

That was a very nice pass when Dmo was driving the lane and passed the ball to Howard for the score. I think that as they get used to playing together that will be common.

I think Rockets might have a trade exception also were they don't have to match salary for salary in a trade.

People on the board call him a stretch 4,he is not a stretch 4.
He has a long way to go, in order to become an effective 4.

On the 2 rookies Covington was able to get off his shot. He was just getting used to game speed plus he was undrafted but can be a NBA player. Canaan though worries me from what I saw and the LACK of pub not getting in practice unlike Covington...He looks very small and is a tweener. Seems to me kinda slow trying to beat his man and should of pull up after a Rockets steal but instead drove and turnover the ball. Hopefully I am wrong but he needs to prove he can make it in the NBA. His only shot was force and miss it. Might be trade bait.

The 1st pre-season game was good to go. Howard, Harden, Lin, Parson, Casspi, Bev and Jones played extremely well. The rest of the team not to well, but hey that's ok. Its only one pre-season game.
