lol have you forgotten about parsons, the dude that got away with his looks? Put him in there. Lin Beverley Harden Parsons Howard Beverley Harden Parsons Asik Howard Greg Smith big hands can be useful as well Occasionally Casspi can space the floor just for starters
If anything, today should have shown you that Jones is exactly the player we(I) thought him to be. Active, productive, and clueless to how to play with 4 other players. That is okay when you are coming off the bench, I guess. But when those 4 other players include James freakin' Harden and Dwight freakin' Howard, then we have a problem. Today you saw exactly why Dmo, for all his flaws, is the starter. Because with Dmo the ball moves crisply, the offense flows, and the team plays like... a team. With Jones all you see is hesitation, isolation, and stagnation. That's why he won't start this year, and that's also why down the stretch, in a tight game, there is no way in hell anyone is trusting him to finish the game. Garcia was NOT in the rotation last year in the regular season as a Rocket. He only played when Parsons got hurt. Garcia was NOT in the rotation last year in the playoffs as a Rocket. He only played when Lin got hurt. You think all of a sudden, he will start closing out games for us this year? Garcia is injury insurance.
Cassipi has been a horrible player the last 2 seasons. You think all of a sudden, he will start closing out games for us this year based on a PRESEASON game? One player played very well in the PLAYOFFS, whereas the other guy played ONE game in a meaningless preseason game. And with that logic you expect him to be suddenly an important player?
I think our likely closing lineup is Beverley, Lin, Harden, Parsons, Howard. Hard to see Casspi breaking in there.
If you bothered to actually read the OP, you would notice that Parsons is in both the lineups I mentioned. So taking that into account, no, I guess I did not forget about Parsons. Secondly, if you bothered to actually read the OP, you would notice that I listed one of the lineups you mention. Thirdly, you honestly think we will be closing out games with Howard and Asik on the floor together? A lineup that we still have to "experiment" with because no one knows if it will even work yet. And you think that is the lineup we close the game with. Alright.
I don't think anyone won this board will make that mistake twice! haha Most people are probably thinking that he will crack the rotation and not be a 20 ppg scorer, at least that's what I hope...
So we've reached preseason game one and Covington's our future starting PF and Cassipi's our closing PF
Alright there. I did not read all of the OP because it mentioned Casspi only in the headline. Asik and Howard combo can work for stretches and the 4th is the best time to put them on the court together because of that the 4th meaning, for defensive purpose It's an alternative plan as the other ones. We have tons of versatility and we should be happy about that.
Has nothing to do with one preseason game. Casspi's game has been a great fit from day 1 that we signed him. Like I said: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=8282303&postcount=6 He was never given an opportunity in Cleveland. EVERYONE looks horrible in Cleveland. He was very good in his time in Sacramento, for a rookie/sophomore. He's 25. No point in arguing. How about you man up: Casspi plays more total minutes for the Rockets than Garcia this season. My $100 against your $100 to the tipjar.
I thought we should cut Casspi after his poor scrimmage performance. I didn't see the game since I don't have CSN, so I stil am in favor of cutting the guy. He is not all that good.
Damn Casspi looked fantastic. He looked like he had high basketball IQ which you can't teach and he was on FIRE
I think he's a streaky shooter so it would depend how he's playing that particular game. Casspi however has proven he can be a decent rotational player while his tenure with Sacramento.
I have to give you props CXbby because you were hyping him when nobody else was. I didn't see the game but 9/10 is nothing to sneeze at, even in a preseason game vs. the Pelicans. Also, the people who were saying he will badly want to take advantage of this Rockets opportunity after his recent experiences, it looks like those people were right too. I wouldn't call it a knee-jerk reaction because this game was much more important to Casspi for his nba career than the other games we've seen him play recently. It is just surprising after how bad he has looked.
If I had 100 dollars to bet, I would definitely bet. And what do you mean he was never given an opportunity in Cleveland? His first season he played 20 minutes a game. He played bad so his minutes were cut. He was given an opportunity and failed to show up. And everyone looks bad in that dump? We said the same thing about Thomas Robinson in Sacramento, and he failed to produce over here. He was very good in Sacramento his rookie season, and got worse and worse as his career went on.
