Enough about Obamacare. That's a settled issue. It's here, and it's going to be tuned up and expanded, and there's nothing that right wingers can do about it.

Instead, let's move on to the next issue, a guaranteed income for all American citizens. This is an interesting concept, and you can bet the West will be watching how it plays out in Switzerland. There are plenty of ways it can be paid for, such as slashing the military budget and eliminating every tax cut, for the rich, over the last 50 years.

That's about how much I pay in taxes. So no more taxes? I'm down with that.

This is how you keep the right wing on the defensive, make a guaranteed monthly income the next big political issue, not whether affordable healthcare should be reversed.

You have to be pretty wealthy to rack up that kind of debt.

How to fight back against Republicans overreaching? Let's do it as well by advocating policy which should only be found in Republican parodies of what the socialists are like!

I mean, I can't register this is a serious proposal.

I assume there is more to it than just give everyone 2800?

2800 a month is well above minimum wage here, so if that was implemented there would be no incentive for people working those jobs to continue, unless there is other requirements other than just being alive.

What if it works in Switzerland? Would you reconsider?

Switzerland is a small, largely racially homogeneous country with a particularly communitarian culture.

The United States....is not. It's something that people like you tend to ignore when they compare the United States to Norway or Switzerland or any of those small European republics on the periphery of the continent. Ask yourself whether this policy could be applied to the entirety of Europe...and if your answer is yes, take a look at the Greeks. Or the Albanians, or the Balkans in general.

Switzerland is much, much richer (per capita) than the USA. And even there this will not happen.

I certainly agree about Switzerland being far, far richer per capita than the United States, and have been there numerous times, and I also agree that this doesn't sound like the Swiss at all.

Agreed. I was in Geneva and a salad cost me $20.

Increasing unemployment, jeopardizing national and global security and reducing large scale investment.

I see. Reading it on my phone i only saw the world bank.

Anyways I doubt GDP per capita would be the best metric to use. The average person has more money in Switzerland, much less income inequality.
What percentage of the population would be dependent on this compared to the us?
