What's interesting is that while the most critical of the three rotten reviews didn't give a numerical score, the other two gave it 74% and a B- respectively.

Sure, they point out some flaws, but how can 74% or B- be considered rotten?

    Visual F/X,Cinematography,Sound editing/editing= A+
    Sandra Bullock's Ass,Thighs,Breast= A+ A+ A+
    Story= C-
Soundtrack= B+ sounds very similar to Oblivion. Did M83 did the score?

Overall, not sure why studios didn't release this in the summer, nonstop Sci Fi Action.
Pacific Rim vs Gravity, which do you like more????

Dammit, can't stop thinking about this movie. Okay, I think I like this more than Pacific Rim/ that opinion might change later.

Tis what I thought? Even my dumb ass nephew who I took to see it with, fell asleep throughout the whole film!!! This is very adult oriented/ but trust me, the movie never lets up, The story is non-existed (intentional I'm guessing) but the action, WOW!!!

Saw it last night in 3D IMAX, watch it in that format if you can.

Technically it’s probably one of the most impressive films I’ve seen, especially the use of 3D, since Avatar. It’s a must see on the big screen. It’s a perfect length for this kind of film, the actions sequences had me moving out of the way just out reflex.

Story itself is basic but it gets the job done. Themes are a bit heavy handed and characters are basic and somewhat clichéd but Bullock and Clooney do a great job with them.

    Even with it’s faults I still think it’s a A- movie in my opinion….

Sitting at the same percentage right now, but the ratio of positive to negative reviews is now 176 : 3.

    Gotta see this movie.

    Just finished watching the movie.

I can see why Sandra Bullock instead of my preferred actress Jodie Foster and Natalie Portman. She played the role as a rookie astronaut really well and has the physical strength to survive in this situation.

While 'Contact' has more complex storyline, 'Gravity' is equally captivating with the visual and simple theme of survival.

So glad Angelina Jolie passed on it, she would have been totally wrong.

Please, no spoilers about twists and aliens or whatever else has to do with the story itself. At this point people are just looking for general reviews and whether it's worth it to see in IMAX 3D, etc.

EDIT - Or if you're going to do it, please use spoiler tags.

Personally think you have to see it in IMAX 3D, it's really one of those rare films that takes advantage of both formats.

I've been reading a lot of reviews, and I think the answer to your question is a resounding "yes".

Some people who know a thing or two about 3D gave it (the 3D itself) a perfect score.

And of course there's this quote from the director himself...

By the way, here's how it currently stands on RT as of now:

    Overall: 98% (192 reviews, 9.1 rating)
    Top Critics: 100% (46 reviews, 9.3 rating)

I spent some time on RT last night trying to find a movie that boasts such high ratings (not just %'s), and the only thing that was really comparable was Citizen Kane. This movie is special.

It's a masterpiece. Plain and simple. Alfonso Cuaron is one of the best directors there is right now.

The trailers didn't make me want to see it at all, but if it continues to be so highly recommended I will give it a chance. Watching Sandra Bullock float away in space while they presumably try to rescue her doesn't seem like the premise for an entire movie.

I was so curious about this movie. Going to go see it tomorrow, no IMAX near me though.

    Can't justify driving to Houston.

There's one in the Bryan - College Station area, if you're close to that.

I really want to know how the screen is, though, in the BCS Imax.

I saw Man of Steel in imax 3D with a friend in Houston during premiere weekend, but it wasn't worth the $15 at all.
