A half empty arena is really a waste of everything this team has accomplished and the pieces Morey put together. I don't see any reason as to why there are so many unfilled seats, except that tickets are too expensive for basketball fans.
Those seats are sold out. They are paid for by companies and they also have access to a lounge where they entertain guests before and during the games. That's why they aren't in the seats early in games. They pay a premium for it. What would you have them do?
Idk, maybe they can sit in their seats and make some noise to support their team. Be more enthusiastic fans. Home court advantage in Toyota center used to mean something.
My am new STH, and purchased the lower level seats in June before the Howard signing (just gut feeling). Soon after Howard signing, the prices went up, then up again. So I know several new STH that purchased prior to Howard signing. So glad to get in before the price increases... Just call it luck!
What are the mavs and spurs doing differently then? TX is supposed to be a football state yet dallas and san antonio have outstanding attendance figures and much more enthusiastic fan support.
I got that exact same plan for the same price. I don't have much interest in the 3 games after opening night, but the last 9 games are great.
Prices have nothing to do with the arena being empty. Houston will only support the Rockets when they are consistently kicking ass in the playoffs.
The area he is talking about is the Rockets East & West Club, which is the prime seats between the baselines on the lower level. The difference between the Rockets and the Spurs & Mavs is that their club level seating is not in the lower level, so on TV you don't notice those seats that have access to nicer amenities, lounge, etc. My wife and I have season tickets in 121 and I always make it a point to be in my seat by introductions. However there are usually a TON of people at the bar in the club ordering drinks, watching other games on the TVs or sitting on the ledge in the club and watching the game from there. At first it drove me crazy but it is what it is. Those seats at Toyota Center are very expensive and generate a ton more money then other seating in the arena and help pay for the team. While it sucks to have empty seats, I also don't blame people for taking advantage of what they pay for.
And will jump off the bandwagon the second the team gets bounced from the playoffs. One thing about Houston. The Texans could suck at Jacksonville-esque levels and still fill that stadium; Academy would be wall-to-wall Texans gear. Rockets NEED a Harden-Howard "H"-town thing going to even get mentioned outside of us hardcore fans.
